• The Civil War started in 1861, it lasted 4 more
  years than anybody thought it would.

Delawares role

• By 1865 Delaware provided 12,000 troops! No
  battles were fought in Delaware.

Pea Patch Island

• Fort Delaware was a place to protect ports so
  people could not steal goods. Fort Delaware is
  found on Pea Patch Island. Fort Delaware was made
  a prison camp after the war broke out.

Mr. Lincoln

• Abraham Lincoln was the President during the
  Civil War.

Delaware

• Delaware turned down Lincolns offer to buy
  slaves.

• He offered 500 for each and every slave. He was
  going to set the slaves free!
