The Kingdom Regions
On 1995 Jordans government decided to
divide the kingdom into three main regions for
the purpose of planning and development
  • The Northern region.
  • The Central region which includes the Jordan
    Valley and the eastern coast of Dead Sea.
  • The Southern region which includes the Gulf of
    Aqaba.

The Gulf of Aqaba is considered to be the only
outlet of Jordan to the sea, Aqaba coast has
variety of sea environment which include coral
chains, and it is
distinguished with its biological diversity
Aqaba port witnessed during the last decades a
variety of development activities in industry and
tourism to meet the needs of import and export.
This development was accompanied with
environmental threatens to sea.

Dashing from the importance of Aqaba, the
government has worked since the beginning of the
nineties in close cooperation with the private
sector and local and national institutions to
eliminate sea pollution by supervision and
setting up a centre for controlling all forms of
pollution. Infra-structure was expanded to
develop Aqaba because of its importance on the
national economical level and to achieve the
sustainable development to Aqaba as a Special
Economic Zone to attract foreign investments to
activate the national economy.

Aqaba Special Zone commission was
established to be in-charge of all tasks and
responsibilities in
Aqaba at the head of these tasks is to set up a
comprehensive frame plan for the Aqaba Special
Economic Zone emanated from the proposed land use
and zoning plan.

The Dead Sea
  • Located in the heart of the Great Rift Valley.
  • Starts from the southern outlet of the Jordan
    River and is well-known of its unique biological,
    historical, and geological characteristics.

  • As for the geological aspects

The Dead Sea is the lowest point in the world,
411 meters below sea level.
Unfortunately, it declines annually 0.8 m 1.0 m
and is expected to get into 430 meters below sea
level in the year 2020 by a loss of 1/3 of its
original area.

  • The area of the Dead Sea is natural habitat for
    some rare dynasties of birds and animals.

  • The Dead Sea shapes a unique triangle along with
    Mount Nebo in Madaba and Baptism spot on Jordan
    River due to the short distances between them.

the Eastern cost of Dead Sea
  • The Arab Charm for Investment Company (five stars
    hotel 250 rooms and beach cabins) with approx.
    cost of JD 37 million.
  • Pelvista Company (five stars hotel 250 rooms-
    and utilities with approx. cost of JD35 million.
  • Omnix Group (a chain of hotels and aqua games
    center on 142 donums with approx. cost of JD140
    million.

Projects under construction to serve domestic
tourism
  • Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (project of
    Swaimeh National Park on a 2000 donums land for
    building kiosks, playgrounds, sanitary utilities,
    swimming pools, and a restaurant.
  • The Government will cooperate with the private
    sector to invest in a tourism village on 900
    donums to build hotels, shopping centers, villas
    and apartments.

  • GAM carried out the first stage of a tourist park
    project in Swaimeh on a 146sq.m. for building
    stadiums , utilities , swimming pools, kiosks, a
    restaurant, Luna Park, streets, paths, fountains,
    and other services and another 138 donums for
    setting up a National Park at Zara as a second
    stage.

Amman Tourist Beach (Dead Sea)
First Phase The Project is taking place at the
eastern coast of the Dead Sea, at Al Sweimeh,
just south of where the hotels are located.
It is one of the qualitative projects being
implemented by Amman Municipality, covering an
area of 146 acres, for serving its citizens .

Preserving the existing elements of nature and
environment and the use of local material. Also
ensuring the availability of terraces overlooking
the Sea, as well as canopies and all services
needed by visitors.

  • Children games were also installed, and a site
    has been designated for building a dock for water
    sports (boats rowboats, etc.).
  • Mobile canopies, clean beaches, ramps and
    passageways for those with special needs, and a
    guards post.

Third Phase
  • Amusement Park Land allocated for the third phase
    lies to the south of the current site, which has
    already been completed and covering an area of 30
    acres, 7 acres of which will be utilized for the
    construction of an amusement park, containing
    games for all age groups, in addition to
    terraces, restaurants, bathrooms, kiosks, and
    parking lots.
  • The management of Al Jbeiha Amusement Park will
    be the party responsible for overseeing the
    installation of the games and the management of
    the site. All needed engineering plans have been
    completed.
