Introduction to the SIYB program

• has been developed by the International Labour
  Organization
• comprises a range of material based, short,
  modular management training courses for small-
  and medium scale enterprises
• today is used in more than 90 countries all over
  the world

The SIYB Sri Lanka Program

• Started as a two year pilot project in Matara and
  Hambantota districts in March 2000
• Funded by Sida
• Implemented by ILO
• Expanded to the National level in February 2002
• Phased out in May 2005 and the SIYB Association
  is implementing independently

• Registered as a legal entity under Social
  Services Act.
• Represents leading public and private sector BDS
  providers
• 24 corporate and 175 individual members
• Ensure the institutional, technical and financial
  sustainability of the SIYB Sri Lanka Program

Development objective ? Contribute to economic
growth through the creation and improvement of
entrepreneurial activities resulting in the
generation of quality employment opportunities in
the private sector.

  business or to consolidate or expand an existing
