How to Do the ICA
  • You must assess each of the learning outcome
    specified for the course.
  • You must choose at least one (two is better, no
more than three) assessment measures for each
    outcome.
  • You must collect the data and examples over the
    course of the semester.
  • You must report your data in the proper format on
a completed ICA turned in on time and with the
    supporting documentation.

15
You must assess each of the learning outcome
specified for the course.
  • Learning outcomes are posted on the department
    web site.
  • The design of your course must include a plan for
    achieving and assessing each outcome.
  • Outcomes will be reviewed this term.

16
You must choose at least one (two is better, no
more than three) assessment measures for each
outcome.
  • Plan ahead!
  • May use an entire quiz, test, paper, etc. or a
portion (be sure you capture the data!).
  • Do NOT use the same measure(s) for each learning
    outcome.

17
You must collect the data and examples over the
course of the semester.
  • Not doing so makes your task much harder at the
    end of term.
  • Not doing so means turning in incomplete data
    and/or documentation.

18
You must report your data in the proper format on
a completed ICA turned in on time and with the
supporting documentation.
  • Class average of 70 or better
  • Actual averages reported by item and by section
