Mission
  • The CORE Initiative is dedicated to supporting
    an inspired, effective and inclusive response to
    the causes and consequences of HIV/AIDS by
    strengthening the capacity of community and
    faith-based groups worldwide.

The Consortium
  • Five-year global program funded by the United
    States Agency for International Development
    (USAID) under the Leader with Associate (LWA)
    Mechanism.
  • CARE International is the lead organization
  • Partners World Council of Churches (WCC),
    International Center for Research on Women
    (ICRW), International HIV/AIDS Alliance, and the
    Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of
    Public Health, Center for Communication Programs
    (CCP)

  • Presence in over 90 countries and partners with
    community-based and faith-based organizations
    including religious affiliates representing the
    Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and
    traditional faiths

Supporting Sustainable Southern Reponses
  • Intermediary organizations, such as networks or
    technical support organizations (TSOs) are
    supported to serve as resource centers, grant
    makers and capacity builders
  • Promotes southern leadership and better enables
    effective, efficient expansion of the program

Small and Large Grants
  • Country-level Small Grant Programs provide grants
    of up to 5000 for community and faith-based
    organizations
  • Large Grants Program provides funds for
    replication projects implemented by national,
    regional, or international organizations
