to take a flight through the web and look at some
new and exciting sites and applications that will
help you make your next event or conference a
    Greener Place!

5
The Green Continuum
  • Green Eco Friendly Sustainable or whatever we
choose to label it, is a dimension of our life
our world, our universe as real as gravity,
sunshine or waking up to start a new day
  • It is not only a marketing trend, way to save
and make money or reason to vote for a certain
political leader it is a way to define
ourselves and our desire to live in harmony with
    our Planet

6
The Green Continuum
  • There are ways to be greener at everything that
we do in all aspects of our lives both
    personally and professionally
  • The Green Continuum theory simply states that
from the moment we are born until the day we die
(or later), every decision or action that we take
has an effect on the world we live in.

7
Flow of Resources
  • We have created a world based on endless
resources that flow to our finger tips
  • Water flows freely from our taps
  • Electricity flows freely to our wall plugs
  • Wood resources flow freely to our printers
  • Food flows freely to our super markets
  • There are very few controls!
  • Except YOU!

8
We are the Control Valve
  • The size of your Valve depends on the number of
people that you are making a decision on behalf
of? (yourself family corporation members of
your association delegates to your conference
residents of a city it can get pretty big!)
  • How can we be a better valve
  • 1) Education 2) Technology 3) Youth Adviser
    4) Green Buddy

Greenwashing
  • Consumer Demand for sustainable products has led,
expectedly, to instances of unscrupulous use of
feel good or natural-sounding descriptions in
    labelling without sufficient supporting evidence
to back up the claim. _ Greenwashing

Tips to Going Green
  • Green Guide Lose 142 pounds a week)
  • Think of pounds of CO2 as inflated balloons
one pound of CO2 would fill a balloon about two
and half feet wide and the amount of energy we
use everyday to power our homes and cars would
    would fill 47 of them
  • A family of four would fill 64,432 in a year -
enough to fill a building nine stories high!

12
Carbon Footprint
  • Your carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouse
gases you and all of your activities produce over
a year, measured in tons of CO2
  • These typically include emissions from industry,
    agriculture, transportations, forestry, power
    generation and buildings
