CHALLENGES FACED
  • Two different types of tools are used in
    different intervals.
  • DLL-MSFL-GR (deep resistivity LLD) recorded in
    the top interval
  • AIT-MCFL-NGS (deep resistivity AT90) recorded in
    bottom interval
  • Proliferation in the number of curve mnemonics
  • A large number of Logging While Drilling (LWD)
    curve mnemonics have further compounded the
    problem

SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM
  • PWLS
  • Practical Well Log Standards (PWLS) Special
    Interest Group (SIG) of Energistics has come out
    with a solution to this problem. PWLS is now part
    of Geology SIG of Energistics.
  • PWLS has standardized the curve mnemonics of
    spliced (joined) curves.

    implemented through Data Viewer in Mumbai Region
    of ONGC.
