This is Jordan Valley (near Shun Lee Estate
Park), where we went to, its a grassland with
quite lots of trees.

Fortunately, at the another side of the
grassland, was not affected by the spackling
process, the trees was still there.

Every day, the residents from Shun Lee Estate
hiking or running in the grassland. Due to the
hill-spackling process, some of the trees and
grasses have been cut, this is the view from the
upper part of Jordan Valley.

This is the another side of Jordan Valley, a
little trees were left.

Some of the trees were very tall, about 4 meters,
since the summer hasnt come yet, the branches
were narrow and the leaves werent green enough.

The grassland seemed very dry, all the leaves
there hadnt drip tips, more surprisingly, on the
road to the grassland, many four-leaves plants
were grown.

The same reason, they could not get enough water
to grow big leaves.

At somewhere of the path, there were some old
trees, which had a lot of aerial roots, known
that from the photo, the number of aerial roots
from one tree was very big, that means their
reproduction speed were very fast so that we have
to save this kind of trees.

Some trees had buttress roots, especially the
trees grew on the slopes, the infertile soil on
the slopes caused this.

Why does the government spackle the hill? It is
because the demand of land to build houses
increases, unfortunately, there are too many
hills in Hong Kong. To deal with the rapidly
increases demand, spackle the hills is the only
method. However, this may make Hong Kong fewer
trees, the air pollution will become more serious.

So, how can we do? The only method is wait. Since
there will be a residential area, a number of
trees will be grown, than when? The government
doesnt have an exact time, but according to the
forum in the Internet, about 5-10 years, the
spackling process will finish, that time Jordan
Valley will have more trees again.

about 10 meters high, with lots of buttress roots
and drip tip leaves, but the trunk was very
strong.

Comment This trip let us discover some area that
we havent gone yet, and let us know the lack of
trees in Hong Kong is very serious. We was sad
when we arrived that grassland since there was
bleak and the trees were really weak, they seemed
to die, therefore, we will be more careful about
the trees, such as recycle the papers, grow more
trees and fertilize the soil. We need oxygen, if
there are no plants, we will die too.
