Title: Moses

Moses Aaron Confront Pharaoh
  • God commands Moses to go and speak to Pharaoh to
convince him to let the Israelites out of his
country. Aaron is to be Moses prophet. God warns
them that when the Pharaoh doesnt listen he will
stretch out his hand and bring the Israelites
out. Moses and Aaron follow Gods commands. When
they speak to the Pharaoh he tells them to
perform a miracle. Aaron throws his staff down
and it becomes a snake, just as God promised. But
the Pharaohs heart became hard and he would not
listen. Then God told Moses and Aaron to meet
Pharaoh at the Nile. As God commanded, Aaron
raises his staff over the river in the presence
of the Pharaoh. When he did all the waters turned
to blood. The Pharaoh refused to listen to Moses
and continued to listen many times.
The Delphic Oracle
  • In Delphi, the people worshiped the God, Apollo.
This establishment was the center of the Delphic
oracle. Apollo was known to speak through the
priestess of the oracle, known as Pythia. Pythia
sat on a stool over an opening in the Earth. The
opening in the Earth was very significant to
Apollo. When Apollo slew Python, its body fell
into this fissure, according to legend, and fumes
arose from its decomposing body. Intoxicated by
the vapors, Pythia would fall into trance,
allowing Apollo to possess her spirit. In this
state she prophesized. She was consulted before
making any important decisions. She became the
voice of Apollo, giving inspiration and guidance.
