The St. Louise de Marillac Grant (SLMG) of the
daughters of Charity provides educational
assistance to desirous and deserving young people
who are academically capable but cannot fully
finance their college education. At the same time
the grantees are expected to help the institution
through the work they will be asked to render.
Through proper scheduling both grantees and
institution profit from this program.

The Grant aims to provide opportunities for the
total formation of young people, especially the
less privileged, into becoming mature,
self-reliant Filipino Christians and Vincentian
men and women. The On-going Formation Sessions
which is part and parcel of this program is a
must for all MGs as it is designed1 to assist
in their holistic formation.

At the end of four to five years, the Grantees
should have
  • Acquired the necessary knowledge and skills of
  • his/her chosen field of specialization,
  • Imbibed the Vincentian spirit of humility,
    simplicity
  • and love for the poor,
  • Responded in a very concrete way to the
    challenges of Social
  • transformation in cooperation with other SLM
    grant beneficiaries
  • and other groups, and
  • Developed their personality their personality
    and built a
  • character  that promotes their sense of
    dignity.

  • The applicant must belong preferably to a low
    income family with three (3) or more dependents.
  • The applicant must be physically and
    psychologically healthy. (It is preferable that
    the MG be examined by the school physician.)
  • The applicant must be single and must belong to
    the age bracket of 16 to 25 years old upon
    application.
  • The applicant must be morally upright.
  • The applicant must have a general average
    of 85 in his/her Form 138 (high school
    graduate).

PRIORITY COURSES IN THE PROGRAM ARE THE FOLLOWING
  • Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Commerce
  • Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Art and Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The MGs are consulted in the choice of courses
to be taken However, it will be preferable if
they choose any of the above courses.
Home visit of the social worker is conducted
before the acceptance of the applicant. After the
home visit an in-depth case study report is
presented to the Admissions Committee and a
written record of the same is kept in the MGs
file.

The applicant must pass the college entrance
test. All applicants regardless of whoever
recommends them should comply with requirements
