Greeks, including Ben Hill Griffin Stadium,
Warrington College of Business, Stephen C.

What will the week be like?
  • IFC Recruitment is very informal in nature, you
as a potential new member can visit as many, or
as few chapters, as you wish.
  • Every fraternity chapter will be having events
which will be open to everyone, so there is no
need to feel intimidated going to the different
    chapter houses.

Questions to ask during Recruitment
?  "What is your new member education period
like?"   ?  "What are the typical dues of the
chapter?"   ?  "How does your fraternity compare
academically?"   ?  "How does your fraternity
compare athletically?"   ?  "What does your meal
plan cost?  Include?"   ?  "What does your
community involvement include?"   ?  "What
organizations are your members involved in?"   ?
"What are your planned social activities?"   ?
"What makes you unique as a fraternity?"   ?
"How many members do you have in your
fraternity?"   ?  "How long has your fraternity
been established at UF?"   ?  "How many members
per semester do you accept?"

What should we wear?
  • An appropriate place to start would be to show
    what NOT to wear

SFE TEF TKE QC ZBT
KS LCA FDQ FGD
But you may want to dress more formal than just a
Hawaiian shirt
No need to wear a blazer and tie

What should we wear?
  • The appropriate dress for Recruitment varies from
chapter to chapter, but it is encouraged to look
    presentable
  • Dress as you would be for going out to dinner or
going out for the night, as this will leave a
good impression on the fraternities you visit.

Receiving a bid.
  • Typically after returning a few times, and if the
chapter feels comfortable with you, you will be
extended a bid.  A bid is an invitation to join a
    particular fraternity.
  • A common question asked is "Once I receive a bid,
does that mean I have to take it?"  The answer is
no, you are encouraged to visit a few chapters
before making a decision on which chapter you
would like to join, and yes, you can receive a
bid from more than one fraternity.

  • A legacy is a prospective member who has an
    immediate relative (parent, siblings,
grandparents, or step parents) who is either an
alumnus or active member of a fraternity or
    sorority
  • Legacies are not automatically pledged they are
selected on their own personal merits.
