    centres, enterprises), who selects fellows

  • Structured training in research (incl.
    complementary skills)
  • Single or Multi-partner Group (min. 3 groups in 3
    countries)
  • Hosts select fellows stays from 3 months up to 3
    years
  • Duration of project normally max. 4 years
  • As an objective, 15 of overall budget is to be
    directed towards the participation of
    industrial/commercial companies.

    researchers within an international collaborative
    research project
  • Well defined collaborative research projects of
    recognised international stature
  • Teams from at least 3 MS or AS (with at least 2
    MS or CC)
  • Flexible framework for the training and
    development of researchers
  • Transfer of knowledge by experienced researchers
    if required by the project
  • Promotion of multidisciplinary research
  • Networks select fellows stays from 3 months up
    to 3 years
  • Duration of project normally max. 4 years
  • Normally, no more than 40 of the funding awarded
    should be allocated to the teams of one country.

Marie Curie Conferences and Training Courses
  • To stimulate early stage researchers through
    participation of conferences and courses
  • Encourage early stage researchers to benefit from
    the experience of leading researchers
  • 2 categories of measures (including virtual
    ones)
  • organisation of series of events, e.g.
    conferences, summer schools, lab courses etc. on
    a single theme or linked themes
  • participation of early stage researchers in large
    conferences selected for their training interest
  • Duration of each event from several days
    (conferences) to max. 4 weeks (training courses)
  • One series of events (at least 4) may be
    organised by a single entity or by several
    entities (local organisers), and will normally
    take place in EU MS or AS. All events in
    a series should be organised within a period of 4
    years.
  • International balance between participants shall
    be guaranteed.

  • To develop or reinforce research potential of
    institutes in need of new competencies
  • Applications by institutions in need of
    developing new competencies
  • All countries, with priority to Community
    LFRs/Associated Candidate Countries
  • Host selects and recruits experienced researchers
    (2-24 months)
  • Possibility to send own staff members (2-12
    months) to pre-determined institutions return
  • Staff members must have been active in
    the same organisation continuously for at least
    the last 3 years
  • Duration of project normally max. 4 years
  • As an objective, 66 of total funding of this
    Action (ToK) will be for this scheme.
  • A min. of 70 of budget of this scheme should be
    directed towards projects transferring knowledge
    to Community LFRs/Associated Candidate Countries.

ToK Industry-Academia Strategic Partnership
Scheme
  • To create or develop true strategic and durable
    partnerships
  • Application by Industry and academia partners
    from at least 2 different countries
  • Co-ordinating host from industry or academia,
    with one or more partners from the other sector
  • Funding of exchange of experienced researchers
    amongst staff members, in both directions (2-24
    months)
  • Staff members must have been active in
    the same sector continuously for at least the
    last 3 years
  • Includes SMEs, spin-offs, start-ups
  • Duration of project normally max. 4 years
  • As an objective, 34 of total funding of this
    Action (ToK) will be for this scheme.
  • At least 30 of budget of this scheme should be
    directed towards the participation of SMEs.

    nationals of any country.
  • Team leaders may not have been working for
    more than a year in the same organisation where
    the team is proposed to be located, nor can the
    team consist of a majority of members who have
    worked previously in the same organisation.

  • Prizes for excellent researchers who have
    benefited from training and mobility action of
    FP6 or previous FP (for min. 12 months)

Return and Reintegration Grants
  • To support integration of a stable research
    career following a period of mobility
  • European Reintegration Following a 2-year Marie
    Curie fellowship
  • Early-stage and Experienced researchers from EU
    MS and AS
  • Reintegration to country of nationality (as a
    priority) or elsewhere
  • Obligation for host to offer a min. 2-year work
    contract and research project
  • Reintegration grant will normally commence
    directly after the termination of original
    fellowships and proposals should be submitted at
    least 6 months before. During a transition phase
    (until 31.12.03), it will be allowed to submit a
    proposal according to the following
  • - if the fellowship is completed by
    1.01.03 within 12 mths from the completion
  • - if the fellowship is still running on
    1.01.03 at the latest 6 mths before the
    completion 31.12.03
  • International Reintegration Following a stay
    outside Europe
  • Experienced researchers from EU MS and AS who
    have been outside Europe for more than 5 years,
    but may not have spent more than 1 year in a EU
    MS and AS during the previous 5 years
  • Obligation for host to offer a min. 3-year work
    contract and research project
  • Grant duration for both schemes at least 2 years
  • Evidence of a longer-term reintegration will be
    positively taken into account during evaluation

Proposal Submission Forms
  • A proposal has two parts
  • Part A
  • Set of forms on administrative information about
    the proposal and the proposers (pre-prepared
    form)
  • Part B
  • Free-text description of the research project.
  • Series of headings and explanatory notes (e.g.
    the nature of the proposed work, the participants
    and their roles in the proposed project, reasons
    for carrying out the work, and the benefits which
    would come from it) based on the evaluations
    criteria.
  • Any unrequested material (e.g. company brochures,
    supporting documents, reports, videos etc.) will
    be disregarded. In proposals submitted
    electronically, other embedded material or
    hyperlinks to other documents will be disregarded!
