Title: Battery Efficiency Experiment

1
Battery Efficiency Experiment
  • Garek Chwojko-Frank
  • Dominik Skulec
  • Lucas Donaldson

2
Question
  • Which of the three types of batteries is the most
energy-efficient, measured in days, with three
    hours on per day?
  • We will test
  • Rechargable (Sony)
  • Duracell
  • Energizer

3
Prediction
  • Dominik and Garek predict that if a flashlight
has Energizer batteries, then the flashlight will
    last longest.
  • Lucas predicts that if a flashlight has
rechargeable batteries, then the flashlight will
    last longest.

4
Materials
  • 2 each of Rechargeable, Duracell, and Energizer
    batteries
  • 3 Flashlights (exactly the same)
  • Pencil and paper for measurement
  • A clock for measurement

5
Steps
  • Place batteries in flashlights
  • Turn on flashlights for three hours a day, while
    being watched
  • Turn off flashlights when otherwise occupied
  • At the end of the day, make sure flashlights are
off and record that one day has passed
  • Repeat the next day until a flashlight turns off
on its own, then mark that that flashlight has
    turned off, then continue repeating

6
Variables
  • Controlled Variable Flashlight type
  • Manipulated Variable Battery type
