9What Does Fort Meade Growth, During the Next 5-7

- BRAC
- BRAC is an acronym that stands for Base
Realignment and Closure. It is a process with
which the Department of Defense uses to
reorganize its base structure or military towns
so that they can more effectively support our
forces. By Law BRAC process started in 2005
and must be completed by September of 201. Under
the 2005 BRAC Law, three major organizations move
to Fort Meade - Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
- Defense Media and Publications Agencies
- Defense Security Clearance Activities
- National Security Agency growth on Fort Meade
- Defense related organizations moving to Fort
Meade, but not a part of the BRAC process - Enhanced Use Leasing (EUL) Program Private
firms can lease land from the government/Fort
Meade to build office or other type facilities.
Fort Meade currently has entered into such an
agreement.
