Golden Utilities is an energy management firm and
energy consulting company.  Golden Utility
Services Company was formed in 2002 to assist in
educating electricity consumers about new
opportunities to lower their electricity cost. 
Many millions of tax dollars have been spent to
inform consumers about the changes in electricity
deregulation , but most people still don't
understand.

How Does Deregulation Work?
It is extremely important that consumers learn
about the differences with electric providers in
the new de-regulated electricity industry.
The quality of your electric service will remain
the same, because legislators required the old
electric companies to form new companies to
maintain the equipment, the wires,
electricity transmission down the lines, meter
reading and repairs. The new companies are
called TDSPs, which means Transmission,
Distribution, Service Providers.
To protect electric consumers legislators have
regulated who can bill users. Electricity
generation companies and TDSPs can not bill you
for their services. Billing for consumers must
be done by Retail Electric Providers, but they
can not read your meter or make repairs. This is
to protect consumers who decide they want to
change electric billing companies. The only
thing the REP can do is negotiate your rate,
send your bills and answer questions about
billing. With proper guidance, changing
your billing company (REP) can mean thousands of
dollars to you!

REPs
  • The Retail Electric Providers know Golden
    Utilities works for their customers first. The
    REPs we work with like that, because they have a
    high standard of integrity and they like to work
    with partners that are ethical. We require REPs
    to be responsive with all our customers
    inquiries, and to be prompt and resourceful at
    problem solving. We investigate the history of
    the REPs we work with, and check their record of
    performance with the Public Utility Commission.
    When customers complain, the PUC keeps records of
    that, and we request updated reports to inform
    our customers. REPs that dont maintain a high
    standard of results to our customers concerns
    are no longer recommended by us. As of
    September 2005 we recommend

our recommended list, not just because of
reputation, but due to our actual experience with
them.

We Work For You

    advocate for our clients in the electricity
    market, and are constantly on the lookout for
    Retail Electric Providers (REPs) that are
    offering best practices to set higher standards
    in the market for customer service and lower
    competitive rates. To be sure our commercial
    customers are billed accurately, Golden Utilities
    audits the monthly bills from the REPs to confirm
    proper charges. When errors are found we serve
    as advocate for our clients to obtain
    satisfactory adjustments and credits for our
    customers.

through REP negotiations.
