• Fairy tales have an oral tradition. This
  means they originally were told from father to
  son, mother to daughter etc... Eventually when
  paper become more readily available these
  traditional stories where written down. Today you
  find them retold in books.

• Most cultures around the world today have their
  own versions of Fairy Tales. Many of the Fairy
  Tales you have read or heard originated in other
  countries. The Brothers Grimm from Germany wrote
  many Fairy Tales you are familiar with. Several
  of these are

• Sleeping Beauty Cinderella
• Rapunzel Snow White

• Fairy Tales usually take place long ago. This
  means they happened several hundred years before
  you were born. The Brothers Grimm wrote their
  Fairy Tales in the early 1800s. This was over
  175 year ago. Many Fairy Tales are even older
  than this.
