My Background

• Attended Foundation Clinical
• Sciences at University of Bradford
• Transferred to Year 1 MBChB
• at Leeds Medical School in 2007
• As a person I
• feel passionate about widening participation in
  the community and so actively mentor students
  through the admissions process
• am hoping to do an intercalated BSc in Clinical
  Sciences in between 3rd and 4th yr

Widening Participation -

• Organisation set up by medical students
• I am currently the Treasurer for the society
• Mainly targets under-privileged students/
• poorly achieving schools
• Mentoring partnership created between medical
  student and sixth form student
• Used to guide students through the admissions
  process
• Provides support and an environment for students
  to express their concerns about going to
  university
• Presentations currently targeting 16yrs, but
  hoping to extend services to primary schools
• Give details of entry requirements and how to
  apply
• Provide assistance on obtaining work experience
  and completing personal statements
