- Established in 1992 following Rio Summit.
- Non-for profit company with Members drawn from
Industry and Government. - Responsible for highlighting to consumers
practical measures to save carbon and reduce the
effect of climate change. - Advises over 1 million consumers per year through
its network of 50 advice centres throughout the
UK. - Works with housing professionals to encourage
them to build and refurbish to higher standards. - Based in London / Edinburgh / Cardiff / Belfast.
- All achieved by working in partnership with
Government, energy suppliers, LAs, stakeholders,
supply chain etc

What does it do? Sets and promotes adoption of
standards above current Building Regulations
Purpose of the standards? Standards that can be
used in the design, construction and
refurbishment of dwellings in the UK.
4Aims and objectives of the EEBPH programme
- Aim
- To contribute to the targets set in the
Governments Climate change programme domestic
housing. - Objectives
- To work in partnership with key housing
professionals to help ensure that all affordable
housing is built and refurbished to the highest
standards of energy efficiency. - To work with regulators to encourage them to
adopt and require the EST standards for new
build/refurbishment.

linked to DCLG s ACDs . - Input into the Code for Sustainable Homes.
- Air tightness workshops supported by Welsh
Assembly WFHA
- Standards referenced in the Housing Corporations
Scheme Development Standards. - On going partnerships with RIBA, CITB, FMB, HBF,
TCPA, WFHA etc.

- Welsh Housing Quality Standards requires new
homes to be built to the 'best practice' standard
with no trade offs allowed for EcoHomes scoring. - Standards included in the LGA model planning
guidance. - Standards being considered as part of revision to
the London Energy Plan. - A number of Energy Saving Trust guides are
referenced in Approved Document L1A and L1B.
- Work with Energy Efficiency Partnerships for
Homes - Glazing Rating Scheme
- City Guilds training for heating installers.
