History of ice hockey

• The birthplace of ice hockey is said to be
  Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada.
• It originated in the 1800s by students of Kings
  College, when they adapted the field game of
  Hurley to their favorite skating pond.
• Thomas Chandler Haliburton was the first to tell
  people of the Kings boys being the first to play
  hurley on the ice.

• First equipment used in Ice Hockey was also
  developed in Nova Scotia and consisted of skates,
  sticks, wooden pucks, and the goal nets.
• Early rules of the game also were developed in
  Nova Scotia. They were the first to use the
  forward pass and to allow the goalkeeper to
  defend his or her goal.
