Concrete Experience

Observations and Reflections WHAT?
Testing implications
of concepts in new
Situations. NOW WHAT?
Formation of abstract concepts and
generalizations SO WHAT?
4
What?
  • This section should included observations about
    your experience.
  • For example, what happened to you during the
poverty simulation activity? What was the
atmosphere? How did you feel? Did your thoughts
or feelings change over the course of the
activity? Discuss how you made decisions during
this exercise. How did you relate to others in
your family and to people in the community?

5
So What?
  • This section should include abstract concepts or
generalizations about the broader issue of
poverty that you can make based on your
    experience.
  • What is the bigger picture? How does your
experience in this simulation relate to the
bigger picture of poverty? What did you learn
about poverty or people who are experiencing
poverty? What did you learn about social
    systems/institutions? What new concepts/ideas
about poverty can you glean from your experience?

6
Now What?
  • This section will include how your experience of
participating in the poverty simulation activity
may affect your behaviors and attitudes in the
    future.
  • Do you look at poverty or those in poverty
differently now, and if so how will this be
evident in your life? How can you use what you
    learned in real life situations?
