What is a Fog Seal

• "A light spray application of diluted asphalt
  emulsion used primarily to seal existing asphalt
  surfaces to reduce raveling and enrich dry and
  weathered surfaces. It can also be used as a
  color coating and as a paint striping surface
  preparation. Fog Seals are also useful for
  application to new chip seals to lock stones in
  place and reduce flying stone. "

GSB-88 SEALER/REJUVENATOR THE PRODUCT

• - GSB-88 is a chemically engineered asphalt
  pavement sealer comprised of a cationic emulsion,
  Gilsonite ore and selected plasticizers.
• - GSB-88 provides a durable, flexible top coat,
  while plasticizers and oils penetrate and
  rejuvenate asphalt pavements.
• - The gilsonite seal provides a long wearing
  anti-oxidative seal for the surface of the
  asphalt pavement.

• - GSB-88 slightly penetrates down to the binder.
• - NO deep penetration, does not soften pavement.
• - GSB-88 will rejuvenate the binder allowing for
  
• increased performance.
• - Rejuvenating the binder will slow the aging
  process.
• - Will allow the binder to hold aggregate.
• - GSB will provide a lock down effect.

• - GSB-88 will seal the surface of the pavement.
• - Gilsonite helps provide a long wearing

WHAT IS GILSONITE?

• - Gilsonite is a natural, resinous hydrocarbon
  mined in the Northeastern Utah.
• - Natural Asphalt
• - Gilsonite is soluble and compatible with
  petroleum asphalt.
• - Gilsonite is frequently used to harden softer
  petroleum products.
• - Gilsonite in mass is a shiny, black substance.
• - Gilsonite is brittle and easily crushed into a
  powder for production.
• - Discovered in the1860s.
• - First mined in the 1880s.

GSB-88THE APPLICATIONFOG SEAL

• - The GSB-88 treatment is applied in a one-pass
  process
• using a standard asphalt distributor slightly
  modified to include a sanding unit.
• The application rate will vary depending on the
  existing asphalt surface.
• Application rate usually falls in the range of
• 0.10 gsy to 0.15 gsy.
• - The recommended application for the sand is
• 0.35 lb per square yard. Sanding provides
  necessary friction for runway applications.

• Apron, taxiways, runways, parking areas,
• Over hot mix, cold mix, slurry seals, chip seals
• Pavements that are oxidized and showing signs of
• normal aging.
• Pavements with failing binders that are losing
  aggregate. (Raveling causing FOD)
• Over a surface treatment (chipseal, slurry seal,
  micro surface) with a failing binder losing
  aggregate.
• - Construction seal. Over a new or recent overlay
  or surface treatment.
