Description of NFTE content

• Practical, experiential, fun learning
• Planning implementing a commercial business
  idea
• Selling a product or service, taking money,
  making a profit (or a loss!)
• Generating business ideas, market research,
  financial planning, marketing promotion, sales
  customer services, presentation of the business
  plan
• Developing entrepreneurial skills and attitudes

Making NFTE a success

• Identified target students for the course
• Created space in the school timetable at KS4 and
  Post 16
• Enabled teachers to attend NFTE training
  ( 5 qualified teachers by May 2005)
• Resourced the course (curriculum resources)

NFTE _at_ KS3

• Little NFTE
• Lunchtime club run for Year 7 and 8 students
• Run as a large single corporation
• Linked directly to Design and Technology
  curriculum
• Product based, no service sector industries
• Limited use of ICT for accounting
• Enterprise option block for 2005 - 2006

NFTE _at_ KS4

• One low ability class timetabled for three
  periods per week, working as a sole trader
  company selling key products for the Design and
  Technology department
• One G T group, funded through the Goldman Sachs
  Foundation, working through the NAGTY programme
  at the University of Warwick. Five identified
  students form the company, attending seven Master
  Classes on Saturdays

NFTE _at_ Post 16

• All of Year 12 on the NFTE programme as part of
  their general studies
• Companies of five students with one sole trader
• Mix of service and product based companies
• Detailed portfolio and accounting work required
• Assessment for accreditation in July through
  portfolio and business plan presentations
• International Awards dinner 2005
