Faktor Pembetulan (Correction Factors)

Checks 17 Oktober 2008

INTERMEDIATE CHECKS
  • Equipment sent for external
calibaration are as follows (but not limited to)
  • Digital balance
  • Pipette
  • Biohazard cabin/Laminar flow/Fume hood
  • Thermal cycler
  • ELISA reader
  • Spectrophotometer
  • Digital thermometer (thermocouple thermometer)
  • others

3
  • Upon receiving equipment after calibration, PYB
will inspect and verify that the calibration has
    been successful.
  • Note on the calibration certificate the
expire date of the calibration is stated.
Sometimes the next suggested date for calibration
    is stated.
  • User use the equipment for research and
    consultation work.
  • Throughout the duration of using the equipment
until the next calibration date is due -- user
will need to perform INTERMEDIATE CHECKS
    (Pemeriksaan Berkala)

Int. checks
Int. checks
Calibration (tentukur)
5
WHY?
  • to maintain the confidence in the calibration
status (to ensure the continued accuracy)

6
WHEN?
  • There is no rule in determining the intermediate
    checks interval of an equipment.
  • Experience of user and other users
  • Frequency of usage (more checks required if
    intensive use)
  • Advise from manufacturer

7
HOW?
  • Eg Balance
  • Get standard weights
  • Weigh the weights and record readings
  • Complete form UPM/TNCPI/S/P)04/LV/BR2 (???)
  • Verify the equipment is still within the accepted
    limit
  • Eg micropipette
  • Perform internal calibration

8
What to do next?
  • If the intermediate checks results are
    satisfactory
  • Continue to use equipment
  • Perform next intermediate check until calibration
    date is due
  • If the intermediate checks results are
    unsatisfactory
  • Label the equipment not fit for use
  • Send the equipment for calibration

9
Control charts
  • Control chart is useful to monitor or do
intermediate checks for certain equipment eg.
    Fridge, incubator
  • Plot the daily/weekly temperature on a graph
able to show the fluctuation of the data

10
Correction Factor
  • When user receives the calibration certificate or
after internal calibration take note of the
    errors in the readings.
  • These errors will need to be incorporated (added)
to the actual reading of the measuring equipment.

11
  • Correction Factor the difference in the
Observed equipment and the traceable equipment
  • Correction Factor reading of the traceable
equipment - current reading of equipment
  • True reading current reading of the equipment
    correction factor

12
  • Example BALANCE
  • If the balance calibration gives a 100.2g reading
for a 100g standard weight, therefore the
    correction factor is - 0.2g.
  • True reading current reading of the equipment
    correction factor
  • True reading 100.2g (-0.2 g) 100g
