• She was born in Hopewell , VA and at age 4 went
  to live with her grandparents in Cool Ridge, WV.
• Later she and her mother moved to Beaver, WV.

• Ms. Rylant attended the University of Charleston.
• She later completed a Masters degree in English
  at Marshall University.
• She also completed a Masters of Library Science
  degree at Kent State University in Ohio.
