a copy of the warranty and retain a copy which
you have signed. After you read the warranty, ask
your dealer to explain any points that you may
not understand. Your safety and the safety of
those around you depends upon the care and good
judgement you use while operating this equipment.
Read the safety precautions carefully. For a
complete list of the pre-delivery service checks
performed by your dealer, refer to PRE- DELIVERY
SERVICE on the upper portion of pages 74 and 76.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS The following precautions are
suggested to help prevent accidents.
A careful operator is the best operator. Most
accidents can be avoided by observing cenain
precautions. Read and take the follow- ing
precautions before operating this tractor to help
prevent ac- cidents. Equipment should be operated
only by those who are responsible and instructed
to do so.
  • without adequate ventilation. Exhaust fumes can
    suffocate you.
  • If power steering or engine ceases operating,
    stop the tractor immediately.
  • Pull only from the swinging drawbar or the lower
link drawbar in the down position with stays
installed. Use only a drawbar pin that locks in
place. Pulling from the tractor rear axle or any
point above the axle may cause the tractor to
    upset.
  • If the front end of the tractor tends to rise
when heavy im- plements are attached to the
three-point hitch, install front end or front
wheel weights. Do not operate the tractor with a
    light front end.
  • Always set the hydraulic selector lever in
position control when attaching equipment, when
transporting equipment or when no equipment is
attached. Be sure hydraulic couplers are properly
mounted and will disconnect safely in case of ac-
    cidental uncoupling.
  • Do not leave equipment in the raised position.
  • Use the Flasher/Turn Signal lights and SMV signs
when traveling on public roads both day and night
    unless pro- hibited by law.
  • Dim tractor lights when meeting a vehicle at
night. Be sure the lights are adjusted to prevent
blinding an oncoming vehi- cle operator.
  • DRIVING THE TRACTOR
  • Watch where you are going especially at row
ends, on roads, around trees and any low hanging
    obstacle.
  • Drive the tractor with care and at speeds
compatible with safety, especially when operating
over rough ground, cross- ing ditches, slopes and
    when turning to avoid upsets.
  • Lock tractor brake pedals together when
transporting on roads to provide two wheel
    braking.
  • Keep the tractor in the same gear when going
downhill as us- ed when going uphill. Do not
coast or free wheel down hills.
  • Any towed vehicle whose total weight exceeds
that of the towing tractor must be equipped with
    brakes for safe opera- tion.
  • THE TRACTOR
  • Read the Operator's Manual carefully before using
the trac- tor. Lack of operating knowledge can
    lead to accidents.
  • Use an approved roll bar and seat belt for safe
operation. Overturning a tractor without a roll
bar can result in death or injury. If your
tractor is not equipped with a roll bar and seat
belt, see your Ford Tractor Equipment Dealer.
  • Always use the seat belt when the roll bar is
installed. Do not use the seat belt if the roll
bar is removed from the tractor.
  • Use the handholds and step plates when getting on
and off the tractor to prevent falls. Keep steps
and platform cleared of mud and debris.
  • Do not permit anyone but the operator to ride on
the tractor. There is no safe place for extra
    riders.
  • Replace safety and warning decals when they
    become illegi- ble.
  • Keep the operator's platform free of debris.
  • SERVICING THE TRACTOR
  • Cooling system operates under pressure which is
controlled by the radiator cap. It is dangerous
to remove the cap while system is hot. Always
turn cap slowly to the first stop and allow the
pressure to escape before removing the cap
    entire- ly.
  • Do not smoke while refueling the tractor. Keep
any type of open flame away. Wait for engine to
    cool before refueling.
  1. Keep the tractor in good operating condition for
your safety. An improperly maintained tractor
    can be hazardous.
  2. Keep open flame away from battery or cold
weather starting aids to prevent fires or
    explosions.
  3. Stop the engine before performing any service on
    the tractor.
  • OPERATING THE TRACTOR
  • Apply the parking brake, place the PTO lever in
the OFF position, the lift control lever in the
down position, the remote control valve levers in
the neutral position, and the transmission in
    neutral before stating the tractor.
  • Do not stan the engine or operate controls while
standing beside the tractor. Always sit in the
tractor seat when star- ting the engine or
    operating controls.
  • Do not bypass the staner safety switch. Consult
your Ford Tractor-Equipment Dealer if your
starter safety controls malfunction. Use jumper
cables only in recommended man- ner, improper use
    can result in tractor runaway.
  • Do not get off the tractor while it is in motion.
  • Shut off the engine and apply the parking brake
before get- ting off the tractor.
  • Always apply the parking brake and remove the
starter key when leaving the unit parked or
    unattended.
  • Do not park the tractor on a steep incline.
  • Do not operate the tractor engine in an enclosed
    building
  • Whenever you see this symbol it means
  1. When the tractor is stuck, back out to prevent
    upset.
  2. Always check overhead clearances, especially
    when transporting the tractor.
  • OPERATING THE PTO
  • When operating PTO driven equipment, shut off
the engine and wait until the PTO stops before
getting off the tractor and disconnecting the
    equipment.
  • Do not wear loose clothing when operating the
power take- off, or when near rotating
    equipment.
  • When operating stationary PTO equipment, always
apply the tractor parking brake and block the
    rear wheels tront and back.
  • Do not install or remove a belt while the belt
    pulley is in mo- tion.
  • To avoid injury, do not clean, adjust, unclog or
service PTO driven equipment when the tractor
    engine is running.
  • Make sure the PTO master shield is installed at
all times and always replace the PTO shaft cap
when the PTO is not in use.

ATTENTION! BECOME ALERT! YOUR SAFETY IS INVOLVED!
