Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery (MIHS) is a
surgical approach that uses small incisions
instead of traditional open-heart surgery.
Doctors while performing the surgery use highly
specialized instruments and cameras that go in
through the small openings, without the need for
a horizontal chestbone split. MIHS has numerous
advantages such as shorter pain duration,
speedier recovery, and shorter hospitalization
that normal surgery patients do not receive.
Common procedures performed using minimally
invasive procedures involve coronary artery
bypass grafting, valve repair or replacement, and
closure of Atrial septal defect. The MIHS,
though not applicable in all cases, provides a
minimally invasive method for certain heart
issues which results in positive outcomes and
improves the quality of life of the
patients. Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery
Bypass Surgery (MICS CABG) Minimally Invasive
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (MICS CABG) is a
surgery carried out on coronary angioplasty with
small incisions and dedicated devices.

In this surgery, the blockage is bypassed which
allows adequate blood flow again and helps the
heart muscle to successfully recover. In
contrast to conventional open heart surgery, MICS
CABG possesses smaller cuts, leading to less pain
and ultimately faster healing. Surgeons apply
advanced technologies and sophisticated gadgets
to reach the heart without damaging the
surrounding tissues. This approach gives the
patients a less invasive option to treat coronary
artery disease and enhances the quality of
life. Minimally Invasive Atrial Septal Defect
(ASD) The Independently Minimally Invasive
Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) Closure method can
treat septal defects located between the two
upper chambers of the heart through
catheterization or small incisions. In its
course, the specialized tools are inserted into
the blood vessels of the heart and help repair
the hole.
4
This method opts for minimally invasive surgery
as opposed to open-heart surgery thus reducing
pain and avoiding a long recovery period. Sewing
the defect allows blood to flow much better,
therefore relieving the strain off the
heart. Minimally Invasive Maze Procedure The
Minimally Invasive Maze Procedure resolves atrial
fibrillation by forming rough tissue in the
hearts atria to disrupt the abnormal electrical
impulses that deliver a disease signal. This is
achieved by endoscopic or catheter-based
approaches with the help of fewer cuts or
incisions. It causes the scar tissue to form and
redirect electrical impulses, thus allowing for
the restoration of normal heart rhythm. Contrary
to the traditional approach of open-heart surgery
this method minimizes the incisions and has a
painless and faster recovery. By addressing the
cause of atrial fibrillation, the ablation
procedure fixes the cardiac irregularities,
lowers the complication rates, and boosts the
patients prognosis.
5
Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery The minimally
invasive valve surgery can fix or replace the
valves of the heart using small incisions that
help to reduce complications and speed up
recovery. Surgeons are equipped with a full range
of specialized tools that allow them access to
the heart. Patients thus face a less traumatic
procedure with a faster healing time. Dr.
Gokhale is a renowned heart transplantation
surgeon in India, known for his expertise and
dedication to patient care. Due to their
substantial professional background spanning
numerous cases of heart transplant surgery, he
has indeed managed to save several patients who
have faced heart problems. Dr. Gokhales passion
for delivering outstanding results with a caring
attitude makes him stand out from the rest of the
surgeons.
