1
Can Seasonal Workers Qualify For Workers
Compensation Benefits?
2
Introduction
Workers' compensation insurance provides
compensation for lost wages, medical bills, and
occupational or physical therapy for workers
injured on the job. The employee agrees not to
sue the employer in exchange for receiving
workers' compensation benefits. An employee
injured on the job is entitled to workers'
compensation benefits in order to recover and
return to work normally. If injured on the job,
seasonal employees and temporary workers are
entitled to workers' compensation.
3
Medical Care
The workers' compensation claim process begins
once you or a representative notify your employer
of your workplace injury. After your application
has been approved, your medical expenses will be
covered by the insurance company. The medical
care provider is determined by your employer for
the first 28 days. After that, you are free to
choose your own provider. In addition to
immediate medical attention, long-term
medications or rehabilitation therapy may also be
required.
4
Lost Wages
You are eligible to receive a percentage of your
lost wages if your work-related injury causes you
to miss work for the season. For seasonal or
temporary workers, this works differently than it
would for a regular employee. When employees are
injured, regular employees receive about
two-thirds of their wages, while temporary
employees receive lost wages depending on the
season, job, and background. Talk to an
experienced workers compensation lawyer to know
more!
5
Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
A work-related injury may make you ineligible for
temporary total disability (TTD). You should be
compensated for the time and wages that you lost
because of your injury. TTD provides benefits in
two different ways to temporary workers. During
the course of your scheduled job or during
off-season, an employee is either in-season. The
off-season rates may differ depending on factors
such as age, education, skill, and other factors
6
Permanent Disability (PD)
If an employee has suffered a serious workplace
injury that has permanently impaired their
ability to work or earn income, they may be
eligible for permanent disability benefits.
Seasonal and temporary workers receive permanent
disability benefits in the same way a regular
employee would. Your case is reviewed based on
your injuries and the effects they will have on
you. To avoid all hassles always hire workers
compensation lawyer who can help you.
