Flat Style
  • Flat roofs, also referred to as low slope
roofs, are essentially roofs with little to no
slope. Flat roofs are ideal when it comes to
saving space and materials, as they require
minimum levels of material. However, flat roofs
are generally not as durable as other roof styles
and are prone to water and snow degradation.
Because of this, flat roofs must be replaced or
upgraded at least every fifteen years. Roof snow
guards can be extremely beneficial in protecting
flat-style roofs from pooling and warping due to
    extreme rain and snowstorms.

3
Gable Style
  • Gable roofs, recognized by their triangular
shape, are constructed by pitching two surfaces
at the same angle. Gable roofs are ideal for
    facilitating ventilation, maximizing space within
a home, and allowing water to run off rather than
pool. However, gable roofs are prone to breakage
in strong winds and should be avoided in canyons
and canyon areas. Gable roofs can be easily
updated or adjusted to form cross-gable roofs,
which consist of two gable sections that connect
at a ninety-degree angle. Because of their angled
shape, roof snow guards can be easily installed
on gable roofs, adding additional protection
against and management of snow buildup.

Hipped Style
  • Hipped roofs generally have four sloping sides
that connect with the four walls of a given
building. Hipped roofs are ideal for areas
susceptible to hurricanes and high winds, as the
style protects the home from extreme weather and
prevents breakage. Additionally, the slope of
hipped roofs allows heavy moisture to run off
rather than build up. Hipped roofs can be
adjusted to form cross-hipped roofs, which are
constructed by connected two hipped roofs in an
L-shape. Roof snow guards are a great addition to
hipped-style roofs for added snow protection.

5
Shed Style
  • Shed-syle roofs, simply put, are roofs that
slope in just one direction, creating a sense of
asymmetry or leaning. These roofs tend to be
more affordable than other roof types and pair
well with wraparound porches and greenhouses.
Furthermore, shed-style roofs are compatible with
green building designs, solar panel additions,
snow guard rails, and roof snow guards.

6
Mansard Style
  • Mansard roofs, similar to hipped roofs, have
two slopes on either side. However, rather than
coming to a point, each side reaches a flat
surface on top. Mansard-style roofs provide
adequate space within the household are ideal for
attic storage rooms and second-floor bedrooms and
are fairly compatible with skylights and arched
windows. These roofs provide protection against
blizzards, windstorms, and other weather hazards,
especially when paired with roof snow guards and
    snow guard rails.
