Tourism
Tourism encompasses leisure and business travel,
as well as the philosophy and practise of
touring, the business of attracting,
accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the
business of running tours. Tourism is defined by
the World Tourism Organization as individuals
"going to and staying in" places "beyond the
prevalent idea of tourism as being limited to
vacation activity alone."

COCHIN
Kochi, known as the "Queen of the Arabian Sea,"
was an important spice trading centre on India's
west coast from the 14th century onwards, and had
a pre-Islamic trade network with Arab merchants.
In 1503 the Portuguese established a protectorate
over the Kingdom of Cochin. In colonial India,
Kochi was the first European colony. Buildings
like the Old Harbour H are still standing.
5
Kochi (also known as Cochin) is a city in
southwest India's coastal Kerala state. It has
been a port since 1341, when a flood carved out
its harbor and opened it to Arab, Chinese and
European merchants. Sites reflecting those
influences include Fort Kochi, a settlement with
tiled colonial bungalows and diverse houses of
worship. Cantilevered Chinese fishing nets,
typical of Kochi, have been in use for centuries

THRISSUR
Thrissur is known as Kerala's cultural hub. The
thrissur Pooram is well-known throughout the
area. The Kerala Kalamandalam, the Kerala Sahitya
Academy, the Kerala Lalitakala Academy, and the
Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy are all located in
Thrissur, an old cultural center. The
Vadakkumnathan (Siva) Temple crowns a mound that
the town is constructed around. The temple is a
great example of KERALA architectural style.
7
Thrissur is a city in the south Indian state of
Kerala. It's known for sacred sites and colorful
festivals. In the center is Vadakkumnathan
Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and adorned with
murals. The ornate, Indo-Gothic Our Lady of
Dolours Basilica is nearby. To the north,
Thiruvambady Temple is home to several elephants.
Sakthan Thampuran Palace houses an archaeology
museum with bronze statues and ancient coins.
