Title: significance of the first day of Navratri

1
Significance of the first day of Navratri
  • Goddess Durga is worshipped in nine different
forms during Navratri, a Hindu festival that
lasts nine nights and ten days.
  • We worship Goddess Shailaputri on day one. Her
form is Parvati, who is the daughter of Raja
Himavan, who is the king of the mountains.
"Shaila" means reaching great heights or reaching
the summit of a mountain. Goddess rides a bull
while holding a trident (trishul) and a lotus in
    this form.
  • Worshipping Goddess Shailaputri helps one reach a
    higher state of consciousness.
