LETS LEARN
English
2
Let's dig a little deeper into the Present
Perfect!
  • How can we use the Present Perfect tense?

3
PRESENT PERFECT USES
  • To talk about
  • Our experiences
  • For a change
  • To continue with a situation
  • Time Expressions

4
Present Perfect for Experiences
  • We use it to talk about an action that that
happened at some point in the past, focusing all
your attention on the action, but not at the
    exact moment.
  • Example An experience that I have done in my
    lifetime.
  • I have visited South Korea.
  • auxiliary verb
    complement
  • in past
  • participle
  • (of verb Visit)
  • South Korea

5
  • Present Perfect for Changes
  • Present Perfect for Continue a situation
  • If we want to talk about a change, we must ensure
to provide new information about what has
happened in a certain period of time.
  • Example I want to provide my improvement in
    learning English.
  • My English has improved since I moved to United
    Kingdom.
  • On the other hand, we also use the Present
Perfect to talk about a situation from the past
and what we want to continue in the present. For
this, we can FOR or SINCE.
  • Example I want to talk about a specific
    situation, not an action.
  • I have studied at the Harvard University since
    September.
  • VS.

Keep in mind which For and Since are used to
highlight specific events, days, or periods of
time.
