ABOUT UNIVERSITY
As a matter of fact, another name for SUPVA is
Pandit Lakshmi Chand State University of
Performing Visual Arts. Moreover, SUPVA Rohtak
is an autonomous not-for-profit public higher
education institution. Furthermore, the premier
university promotes higher studies and research
in the field of Design, Fine Arts, Film and
Television and Urban Planning and Architecture.
In addition to this, SUPVA strongly emphasizes
the rich heritage of traditional Indian art
forms. Besides this, the college has the approval
of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Undoubtedly, SUPVA is one of the respectable
institutes for visual and performing arts.

University of Performing and Visual Arts focuses

HISTORY
Undoubtedly, Haryana Government laid the
foundation of the State University of Performing
Arts and Visual Arts on 5th August 2014. In
addition to this, SUPVA was formed after
integrating 4 technical colleges, namely State
Institute of Fine Arts (SIFA), State Institute of
Design (SID), State Institute of Urban Planning
Architecture (SIUPA) and State Institute of Film
Television (SIFT). Besides this, the governor
renamed SUPVA on  14th November 2018 after the
renowned Haryanvi poet, Pandit Lakshmi Chand. To
emphasize, he is popularly referred to as the
Kalidas of Haryana. To sum up, SUPVA history
relates to the development of the frontiers of
higher education, mainly in the field of
performing and visual arts to the youth of
Haryana and the surrounding areas.

INFRASTRUCTURE
State University of Performing Arts Commerce and
Visual Arts, as a matter of fact, has a
beautifully lush green campus of 32 acres.
Moreover, the location of SUPVA Rohtak is central
to the nearby states. To clarify, SUPVA is  70
kilometers far from the national capital Delhi
and 220 kilometers from the union territory of
Chandigarh. Furthermore, the entire campus has
been made in concrete structures. On the other
hand, the finishing has been done in a
combination of red sandstone and Dholpur stone.
 On the whole, SUPVA Rohtak is a well-connected
transportation network. Moreover, the college has
state-of-art infrastructure as well as
magnificent buildings. In addition to this, the
State University of Performing Arts Commerce and
Visual Arts have spacious seminar halls,
laboratories, well-equipped with the latest
machinery and equipment. As a matter of fact, the
famous architect Raj Rewal is the architect of

library at SUPVA has an old-fashioned design.
Yet, it has all the necessary infrastructural
facilities such as centralized air conditioners,
spacious and noiseless reading rooms, proper
furniture, separate washrooms, and IT rooms. On
the whole, the library has vast resources of
about 7500 books and over 100 print and
e-journals.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Hostel As a matter of fact, the hostel at
the residential campus has ample play area,
beautifully landscaped green parks and other
utility services spread across 14 acres of land.
Furthermore, there are separate hostels for males
and females. Moreover, the State University of
Performing and Visual Arts have a girls hostel
with a capacity to accommodate 170 students.
Besides this, the university has a well-furnished
housing facility for both faculty and nonteaching
staff. In addition to this, SUPVA has 144
residential houses for faculty and staff, guest
house.  Conference Room That is to say,
SUPVA has a well-developed conference room.
Moreover, the university organizes various events
such as national/international symposium,
conference, faculty development programs, as well
as workshops and exhibitions in the conference
room.  Other Facilities That is to say,
other facilities are available for academics and
extra-curricular activities at SUPVA which
includes an auditorium, seminar halls, central
library, and canteen. As a matter of fact, all
the 4 colleges have common central facilities of
an auditorium, art gallery, knowledge center and
a cafeteria.

COURSES OFFERED
Bachelors Course At present, the State
University of Performing Arts and Visual Arts
runs 14 Under Graduate Degree level programs
across four faculties. In other words, SUPVA
offers 4 UG courses in the Faculty of Fine Arts,
4 in the Faculty of Design, 5 in the Faculty of
Film and Television. On the contrary, the Faculty
of Urban Planning and Architecture offers a
Bachelor of Architecture program. As a matter of
fact, SUPVA Rohtak mandates an entrance
examination for enrolling in the UG courses. To
clarify, the university evaluates a candidates
aptitude, general knowledge, art and culture, as
well as artistic skills, analytical skills,
communication skills in the written test. Soon
after this, the selected candidates appear for a
skill test to evaluate the innovative ability of
the candidates. Masters Courses  As a
matter of fact, SUPVA launched 4 Post-Graduate
programs from the session 2019-2020. Further,
these new courses are Master in Fashion Design,
Master in Mass Communication (Media Production),
Master of Applied Arts, and Master of Planning
(Urban Regional). Apart from this, the Haryana
government is planning to set up a Regional
Centre in the Sonipat district. In addition to
this, various courses in Humanities and Social
Sciences, including Cultural and Folk Media
Studies will be offered at SUPVA.
