Title: HOW TO OVERCOME PUBLIC SPEAKING FEAR?
1HOW TO OVERCOME PUBLIC SPEAKING FEAR?
TIPS TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR PUBLIC SPEECHES
2WHAT IS PUBLIC SPEAKING?
Public speaking is the art of addressing the live
public vocally through your speech. It is more a
formal chit-chat where one speaker and a group of
listeners interact face-to-face. It is very
obvious to have a fear of indirectly speaking to
the public. So before you step onto the stage or
podium, make sure that you are well prepared for
the session you are supposed to take. Also, you
must have full detailed information about the
event and the subject of the event you are about
to talk about. Along with it, prepare your key
points while keeping in mind the type of public/
mass you are to address.

4Begin by asking Schools in dehradun students to
give short, impromptu speeches. Depending on the
level of public speaking anxiety your students
have, you may even have them do the impromptus in
small groups or with a partner before speaking to
the class. Impromptus are fun, low prep, and low
stress. its expected that we mess up with an
impromptu speech because we have not had any time
to prepare . This mindset helps students to step
outside the box in terms of thinking they need to
be perfect.

5First, collect all the relevant information
regarding the event, the mass, and the subject
you are about to talk about. Visit books,
websites, and all the possible sources to gather
the most of it so that it becomes easier for you
to be more impromptu and less dependent on the
written speech. Grab all the facts, figures,
graphs, maps, charts, visuals, etc., to have
every minute detail about the subject. This is
all covered under the planning section, where you
plan the raw structure and choose the things you
will mention. The next step is drafting, where
you assemble all the raw information and data you
have collected. The sequence of the topics is
decided, the proper writing is developed to
practice and eventually to speak.

6International schools in dehradun students also,
make sure that you use the correct grammar,
vocabulary, and phrases. Your thoughts should be
unbiased and more factual than enforcement of
your opinions. Practice more and more so that you
become comfortable with the writing and make
corrections wherever you find that it feels like
a tongue-twister. The final step is execution,
where you finally address the live audience. You
must stand out confident and smart. Your voice
should be clearly audible even to the last person
in the final row. The pronunciations should be
accurate. Just go with your flow of speaking
without considering what you wrote in the paper
to practice. Just stick to the topic. Be loud but
not harsh like while delivering your words and
opinions, you should not hurt the feelings of the
listener and should be polite. Remember the key
points and give a description of the topic as per
the time given to you by the audience.

7Look if you are well known to the topic, you can
easily give your speech. During the time you
speak to mass, keep in mind that you should look
smart and confident so that you can achieve the
active participation of the audience. Public
speaking is not rocket science which is
impossible, but it requires a lot of practice and
dedication. To build your confidence, speak more
and more to the unknown people, to yourself, with
the mirror and another person, no matter what the
topic is. This will make you impromptu and
improve your coordination between your vocals and
your brain so that you use the correct vocabulary
and grammar during your speaking session.

8The most important fact that you should keep in
mind while public speaking is to never tell your
audience that you have made a mistake, i.e.,
never correct a mistake if done, just move on.
Holding your confidence when you are wrong is the
most difficult thing to achieve, as your audience
didnt know about your written speech. They are
just listening to you, and they will not even
mention unless you emphasize the mistake through
some gesture or apology. Try to look at your
audience so that it creates a warm connection,
but never look into the eyes of a particular
person sitting in the audience otherwise, you
will fumble, panic, or get nervous because your
brain will distract and you will lose your focus.
Public speaking is all a mind play, playing with
the minds of the public through your thoughts.
