  • Feldspar is a group of minerals that contains
    silica (SiO2) and alumina. It is an alloy of two
    metals, including Potassium or lime, which
    belongs to the natural mineral group. The most
    common natural minerals we get on our planet are
    Aluminium, Potassium, etc. 
  • Feldspar creates a coating of about 60 of
    rocks, including other unconsolidated sediments
    such as clay, sand, and other vital parts of
    classification schemes. This natural group
    includes minerals like microcline, plagioclase,
    and orthoclase feldspar. Feldspar powder
    manufacturers utilize feldspar powder for
    manufacturing it in glass pottery. 
  • From magma, the Feldspar constantly forms
    intrusive and extrusive igneous rocks. Hence,
    they are found in other varieties of metamorphic
    rocks. A type of rock called anorthosite, and it
    contains almost calcic plagioclase feldspar. You
    can find feldspars in a variety of sedimentary
    rocks. 
  • Feldspars are commonly a mixture of two metals

Composition of Feldspar

    serve two purposes such as alkali feldspar and
    plagioclase.

Feldspar's Crystal Formation
  • Feldspar powder manufacturers make use of cooling
    magma to form a crystallized form. This
    crystallized form of Feldspar is known as
    plagioclase, and this feldspar plagioclase is
    rich in calcium. When Feldspar is powdered,

    share its ions with the neighboring tetrahedron,
    a network of three-dimensional forms.
  • Due to the twisted form of long chains of
    aluminosilicate tetrahedra, it is called the
    crankshaft chains. By connecting to its neighbor,
    the crankshaft chain forms a three-dimensional
    network with a group of four-member rings. 
  • The structure of Feldspar is wide open enough for
    cations such as Potassium, calcium, or sodium to
    fit inside and balance the positive and negative
    charges safely.

Properties of Feldspar
  • Feldspar minerals have a lot of different sizes
    and shapes. These minerals have a particular set
    of physical properties, and these properties are
    consistent remarkably. 
  • Most of the minerals have two cleavage
    directions, and they reflect or converge near 90
    degrees or precisely at 90 degrees. Most of the
    feldspar minerals contain Moh's hardness of 6 to
    6.5 and a specific gravity rate that ranges
    between 2.5 to 2.8.
  • Even though feldspar minerals are thin, they have
    a consistent property which is very useful.
    People who are used to the cleavage of Feldspar
    will pick up a small igneous rock that contains
    feldspar crystals. 
  • You can use a hand lens to analyze the feldspar
    Crystal and differentiate the Feldspar from other
    minerals in the rock. Sometimes you can use both
    a hand lens and a few sets of mineral hardness
    picks to analyze the hardness of most tiny grains
    with a bit of practice.

Types of Feldspar Mineral
  • Generally, the classification of alkali feldspar
    contains two types,
  • ? Containing Potassium in addition to silicon,
    sodium, or aluminum.
  • ? It can contain barium, sometimes replaced by
    Potassium.

Feldspar of Sodium and Potassium
  • In higher temperature settings, the compositions
    of intermediate alkali feldspar have been seen
    because it is not advisable to melt these
    minerals at low temperatures. Microline is stable
    at low temperatures only, and another mineral
    called Sanidine is stable at high temperatures
    only. 
  • During the cooling process of intermediate
    compositions, a familiar texture of perthite
    forms in alkali feldspar while resulting from the
    exsolution of various compositions of alkali
    feldspar. 
  • With the help of your naked eye, you can see the
    textures found in different granite minerals in
    alkali feldspars. With the aid of a light
    microscope, you can see the micro perthitic
    textures in crystals. 
  • The ratio between alkali feldspar and plagioclase
    feldspar defines the QAPF classification of
    igneous rock, and additionally, it also depends
    upon the proportion of quartz. 
  • Plagioclase feldspar having compositions
    intermediately can also separate the solution
    from the solid solutions in a rock to two
    feldspars with different compositions during the
    cooling process. 
  • The intergrowths of resulting feldspars are
    fine-grind and will be visible with optical
    microscopes, but in plagioclase, feldspar
    diffusion is slower compared to alkali feldspar.
    When you compare the differences of alkali
    feldspar and plagioclase feldspar, the
    plagioclase has miscible differences. Hence, they
    are complicated.
