2
The main purpose of construction drawings is to
show what is to be built, while the
specifications focus on the materials,
installation techniques, and quality standards.

  • Site Plan
  • Plot Plans
  • Excavation Plans
  • Floor Plan
  • Elevation Plans
  • Section Drawings
  • Detail Drawings
  • Mechanical and Electrical Drawings
  • Plumbing and Drainage
  • Finishing Drawings
  • Reflected Ceiling Drawing
  • Perspective Drawings

4
A site plan provides a map of the
construction site. Site plans contain information
about structures on or near the construction
project, such as roads and buildings in proximity.
5
Plot plans are like site plans in that they both
depict the whole project site. They are typically
used as an aerial, or above-ground, view.
6
Excavation plan show the dimensions of the future
excavation on the project site.
7
Floor plans show what the construction project
would look like if viewed aerially without a
roof.
8
Elevation plans depict the structures vertically,
as if you were looking straight at them.
Architects draw elevation plans in two dimensions.
9
Section drawings are like elevation in that both
depict the project from a vertical perspective.
However, while elevation plans show what a
building should look like once completed from the
outside, section plans show the hidden structures
beneath the building's facade.
10
Detail drawings provide detailed information
about the placement and connections amongst
different parts.
11
Mechanical and electrical drawings show the
design and locations of mechanical and electrical
components of the future building structures.
12
Plumbing and drainage drawings show how water
moves in and out of the building. These drawings
ensure proper drainage on your construction
project and help people during building
installation.
13
Finishing drawings like detailed drawings display
smaller specifications required for the
construction project.
14
A reflected ceiling drawing shows what the
ceiling should look like when seen from the
floor.
15
Perspective drawings provide a thorough
understanding of how the construction project
would look like, once finished.
