Betting Rounds in Poker
Pre-Flop
After card dealing, the first betting round
begins. In this round, the first one to act will
be Under the Gun (UTG) who sit in the immediate
left to the big blind. He is the first one to
make the move i.e. Call the big blind, Fold his
card or Raise, one the basis of the strength of
his cards in hand.

Flop
After the Pre-Flop, 3 community cards are dealt
face-up on the table and then the betting round
begins. In, this round everyone can make the move.

In this round, the final community card is dealt
face-up on the table and the final round of
betting begins.

Note The round will be completed when everyone
Matches the highest bet or match the amount in
the pot.

Small blind
The Small Blind is the First person to Act in the
game. In laymans language, a small blind will
start the round on the table. The small Blind is

Big Blind
The Player sitting in the immediate left of the
Small Blind is named The Big Blind. The Big Blind
is forced to make the bet which will be double
the amount of Small blind. That is why we call
him Big Blind.

High Jack. This is the second-best position on

Cut-off
The Player sitting in the middle of Dealer and
High Jack is known as Cut-off. This position is
the best position on the poker table. This is the
best position because he is the last one to act
and he can act according to the strategy of every
player. This Player knows about every players
move and what theyre doing in the round.

Dealer Button
The Dealer Button is the position where the game
starts. It is a pointer or a marker that
indicates the player from where the cards are
dealt. This is the most advantageous Position on
the Poker Table because he knows about each and
every players move.

The Gameplay of Poker
The Game starts with the dealing of cards. The
first card is dealt with the Small blind and the
last one to get the card is Dealer. After that,
the Pre flop round Begins.

The first round of the game is Pre-Flop. In this
Round, the betting begins. Small and Big blinds
have the compulsory bet, where they have to make
the bet and there is no choice for them. The last
one to act is the Dealer.

Flop Round
The second round after the Pre-Flop is the Flop
Round. In this round, 3 Cards are dealt on the
table Face-Up and after that, the betting begins.
Players bets on the basis of the best possible
sequence or the value of their card in hand.

The Third Round of the game is the Turn Round. In
this round, One more Card is delt on the table
face-up and the betting round begins.

River Round
The final round of the game is River. In this
round, the Last card is dealt on the table
Face-up and the betting round begins. In this
round all the cards are dealt. So, the players
make the final move on the basis of the best
possible sequences or the value of the card they
can make.

Notes

1. Only in Pre-Flop round, the blinds have the
compulsory bet. After the Pre-Flop or say in the
Flop round onwards the blinds can make their move
(Call the bet, Raise the bet, Fold the cards).
2. To complete a round every player, have to
match the equal value of the pot.
3. Players bet on the basis of the value of their
cards or the best possible sequence they can make
according to the Hand Ranking.
