Whether this is your first trip or youre an avid
traveler, its always helpful (all the more
helpful if it is a trip to another country) to
have a list of the travel essentials you may want
to pack for your vacation. Creating such a list
and referring to it in the run up to your trip
will stand you in good stead whether youre
planning an international trip or a weekend
vacation. Include everything from travel
must-haves to toiletries, and other things in
your list.
3
Here are some tips to efficiently pack your
suitcase
  • First and foremost, make a list of all the items
that will go into the suitcase.
  • Lay all of your items on the floor or the bed to
get an idea about how tightly you should be
    packing.
  • The carry-on limits are particularly tighter for
international flights, so its advisable that you
assess the weight and size restrictions for your
    flight.

4
  • Select the appropriate luggage. For example, if
it is a checked suitcase, its best to carry a
backpack and large suitcase. If you have to walk
long distances, make sure to take luggage with
    spinner wheels.
  • If the suitcase is an old one, make sure to clean
it up before packing things in.

5
Now its time for the things to pack
  • Pack crucial pieces of documents like passport,
    international drivers license France,
    electronics (laptop, smartphone, charger),
clothes for one or two days (in case checked gets
    lost), toiletries, and medicine.
  • Pack an extra pair of shoes, all of your other
clothing, liquids over 3.4 oz, and other stuff
not allowed on the flight in your checked
    suitcase.
  • Pack all your documents in an easily accessible
place (like your carry-on, backpack, etc.).

6
  • Use packing cubes to pack electronics, one for
chargers and smaller items, one for socks and
underwear. They are a great way to keep your
items in a proper fashion. Pack the packing cubes
full, which can save a little bit of space.
  • Start packing with shoes and bigger items in case
    you are packing without cubes.

7
  • Roll and fold your clothes before you start
    packing.
  • If using a carry-on and suitcase, never pack
essential items in your checked suitcase which
could be stolen or get lost.
  • Be careful when packing liquids and fragile
    items.
  • Follow the TSA rules if you are bringing any
    sharp object.

8
  • Leave some space for the return items.
  • Use the straps to tighten the contents.
  • Weigh your bag to ensure its close to the weight
limit. Its best to get rid of some of the
clothes if youre above the weight limit.

9
As youre done with your packing, it is wise to
purchase insurance for your checked suitcase and
use a luggage cover to avoid your checked
suitcase from getting damaged. Dont forget to
add luggage tags to your suitcase and use only
TSA-approved locks.
10
Remember packing is pivotal. It is best to plan
way in advance when it comes to booking flights
and packing for overseas travel. A comprehensive
international travel checklist should cover all
the health, safety, and financial necessities so
that you are not left in the lurch.
11
Having some source of knowledge about your
destination is essential, which will give you
insight into some vital information, such as
driving on road rules, currency exchange rates,
tipping norms, cultural/legal customs, etc. This
information will help you steer clear of untoward
situations. To know more check out
