The Guddattu Mahaganapathi Temple is believed to
have been built 800 years ago and stands on a
unique site under a large granite rock. Guddattu

the large Shiva statue that can be seen from

Kanduka, on the shores of the Arabian Sea, it

climb the tower after purchasing a Rs.10 ticket
and get an amazing view of the surrounding area.

Gokarna is a well-known tourist destination in
the Northern Kannada region and a tourist
attraction with beautiful beaches and other
scenic spots. The Mahableshwar Temple is
dedicated to King Shiva but also to the Ganapathy
Temple. The temple is known as the Southern Kashi
or Dakshina Kashi. The legend behind the temple
is that once upon a time Ravana, after much
remorse, found Atmalinga with King Shiva who told
him not to keep it down because it would be fixed
there. King Ganpathy deceived him by doing so and
the place where Shivalinga was kept was where the
temple came from. The temple is believed to have

The Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple is located on
the banks of the Netravati River and is one of
the most famous temples in Karnataka. It is also
a unique temple with the temple goddess, King
Shiva, Jain Theerthankara also worshiped in the
temple. The temple authorities are made up of
people from all walks of life. Every day, more
than 10,000 people visit the temple. Volunteers

9. Udupi Srikrishna Temple
The Udupi Srikrishna Temple is famous for its
unique Krishna statue which returns to the door.
Therefore, this god could not be seen from the
outside entrance but from the back door and
window. It is said that Kanakadasa, a devout
Krishna, was barred from entering the temple
because of his kingship. Therefore, he stood in
the back of the temple and prayed earnestly to
the Lord. Sri Krishna was moved by his devotion
and turned to Kanakadasa and even today, the
image remains the same and can only be seen
through a window, called the Kanana kindi or
Kanaka window. The temple is well connected by
road, rail, and air and is therefore easily
accessible.

10. Kollur Mookambika Temple
Located in Kollur 130 kilometers from Managaluru
or Mangalore,the Mookambika temple is one of the
most famous temples in India.The sanctuary is
worked among the slopes of Kodachadri in the
western ghats. It is believed that the temple
was built at least 1200 years ago. The myth
behind the temple is that the goddess Parvati
killed a demon named Kamasura who tormented the
local people. The goddess first made him mute or
mooka, but as he did not stop even then, the
demon was killed. People began worshiping the
goddess right there, and eventually a temple was
built here. The best an ideal opportunity to
visit the sanctuary is during the Navaratri
celebration however it is packed around then. The
