2Fuel Injector A fuel injector is nothing but
an electronically controlled valve. It is
supplied with pressurized fuel by the fuel pump
in your car, and it is capable of opening and
closing many times per second. The injectors are
mounted in the intake manifold so that they spray
fuel directly at the intake valves. A pipe called
the fuel rail supplies pressurized fuel to all of
the injectors. The Bosch Fuel Injection program
provides vast coverage for Domestic, European and
Asian vehicles. Our global presence means we are
familiar with the specific needs of each market
and our customers locally, enabling us to meet
specific regional requirements.

4Features
- Constant functional values
- Complete freedom from fuel leaks when not
activated - Optimum delivery of the required quantity of fuel
- Resistance to fuel deposits
- Reliable hot-starting of the engine
- Optimum fuel metering at correct timing
- Long working life
- Low fuel consumption
- High protection against damage to the engine
5ADVANTAGES
- Fuel response is practically instantaneous with
increase in air flow. Because of these, there
will be less emissions. - Increased volumetric efficiency and therefore
increased output power and torque. The carburetor
venture prevents air and, in turn, volumetric
efficiency decreases. - Low specific fuel consumption. In the engine with
carburetor, fuel cannot be delivered with the
same amount and with the same air/fuel ratio per
cycle, for each cylinder. - The more rapid engine response to changes in
throttle position. This increases the drive
comfort. - For less rotation components in fuel injection
system, the noise decreases. - Acceleration becomes faster.
- Ice formation on the throttle plate is
eliminated. - Starting is easier.

7Disadvantages
- High Initial Cost/High Replacement Cost.
- Increased are and Attention/More Servicing
Problems. - Requires Special Servicing Equipment to Diagnose
Faults and Failures. - Special Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical
Systems Needed to Diagnose and Rectify Faults. - Injection Equipment Complicated, Delicate to
Handle and Impossible to Service by Roadside
Service Units. - Contain More Mechanical and Electrical Components
Which May Go Wrong. - Increased Hydraulic and Mechanical Noise Due to
Pumping and Metering of Fuel. - Very Careful Filtration Needed Due to Fine
Tolerances of Metering and Discharging
Components. - More Electrical/Mechanical Power Needed to Drive
Fuel Pump and/or Injection Devices. - More Fuel Pumping/Injection Equipment and Pipe
Plumbing Required- May be Awkwardly Placed and
Bulky.
