  • In finance, a loan is the lending of money by one
    or more individuals, organizations, or other
    entities to other individuals, organizations etc.
    The recipient incurs a debt and is usually liable
    to pay interest on that debt until it is repaid
    as well as to repay the principal amount
    borrowed. The document evidencing the debt will
    normally specify, among other things, the
    principal amount of money borrowed, the interest
    rate the lender is charging, and the date of
    repayment. The interest provides an incentive for
    the lender to engage in the loan. Acting as a
    loan provider is one of the main activities of
    financial institutions such as banks and credit

  • Types of loans
  • I. Secured loans These are loans that do require
    collateral. That way, if you are unable to repay
    the loan, the lender still has some means to get
    back their money. The rate of interest of secured
    loans are lower as compared to those for loans
    without collateral. Types of secured loans-Home
    loan, Loan against property (LAP), Loans against
    insurance policies, Gold loans, Loans against
    mutual funds and shares, Loans against fixed
    deposits
  • II. Unsecured loans These are loans that do not
    require collateral. The lender lends you the
    money based on past associations, and your credit
    score and history. Thus, you have to have a good
    credit history to avail these loans. Unsecured
    loans usually come at a higher rate of interest
    due to the lack of collateral. Types of unsecured
    loan are Personal loan, Short-term business
    loans.
  • Who provides these loans?
  • Loans are provided by both private as well as
    government institutions. These institutions that
    provide the loans are banks or NBFCs or other
    financial institutions. We know that most of
    Indias population lives in rural areas it
    necessary that these institutes penetrate rural
    remote areas. But due to many challenges this is
    not possible. Hence to tackle this problem
    financial institutions hire DSA (Direct selling
    Agent). In order to bring business to the banks
    and NBFCs they get some percentage as commission
    on the amount of loan. They generally deal in
    retail loan of banks. Now the question is how
    DSAs can reach their prospects effectively?

    prospecting. Prospecting involves focussing on
    only that audience which is interested in your
    offerings. Prospect Marketing uses different

    feedback, etc. Using the data obtained from

    filter which helps the DSA reach the prospects
