Principles of Electrical Engineering - MITAOE
2
What are the Principles of Electrical Engineering?
  • Electrical engineering deals with the
    understanding of designing, working and
functioning of different types of equipment. The
types of equipment mentioned here are the ones
    which use electricity, electronics and
    electromagnetism for their operations. To
understand the working of these pieces of
equipment, it is essential to understand the
basic principles of electrical engineering on
which these pieces of equipment are based.

3
  • The aspiring Electrical engineers have to be very
well aware of these principles as these form the
basis of all the education, they are going to get
about being an electrical engineer. Below are the
principles on which electrical engineering is
    based on

4
Electricity
  • Electricity is nothing but a form of energy which
is the flow of electrons. These electrons are
responsible for creating charge and generate
electricity. The electricity is used for numerous
purposes in our daily life be it switching on the
light for brightness or to charge the phone or
laptop or various other chores. Electricity is
undoubtedly the most commonly used source of
    energy.
  • The basic principles of electrical engineering
are based on the three parameters of electricity

5
The Volt
  • The electromotive force or the Volt is a
    quantitative expression of the potential
difference in charge between two points in the
electrical field. The flow of the electric
current depends upon how the Voltage is, higher
the flow of Voltage more the electricity. Voltage
is measured in Volt, which is named after an
    Italian physicist Alessandro Volta.

6
  • Voltage can be understood by a simple definition
that it is the amount of potential energy between
two points on a circuit. If one point has more
charge than others, then the difference between
    these charges is called Voltage.

7
The Ampere
  • The Ampere defines the flow rate of the electric
current, in other words, it is a unit of measure
of the rate of electric current in an electrical
conductor. It is essential to be able to quantify
the current flow in the system, and this will
help to estimate the performance of the circuit,
which has to be defined. A unit is required to
gauge the performance of the circuit, and this
unit is called Ampere or amp. The unit of
electric current is named after the Father of
    Electrodynamics a French Physicist and
    Mathematician called Andre-Marie Ampere.

8
The Ohm
  • The unit of resistance in a conductor is
known as the Ohm. The unit of resistance is
influenced by three things, they are the size of
the conductor, the material of the conductor and
the temperature of the conductor. If the length
of the conductor increase or the diameter of the
conductor decreases the resistance of the
conductor to increase and on the contrary , if
the material of the conductor is more conductive
then the resistance of the conductor decreases.

9
  • And if there is a rise in temperature, then the
resistance of the conductor also increases. This
unit of resistance is named after German
    physicist Georg Simon Ohm.

10
Ohms Law
  • Ohms Law gives the correlation between electric
    current (I), Voltage (V), and resistance (R) in a
    conductor.
  • Ohms Law is expressed as V I R
  • Where V volts, I amps, R Ohms
  • These are the fundamental principles of
electrical engineering which student who want to
pursue electrical engineering should be aware.

  • MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE), Alandi, Pune
is the Engineering institute in Pune which offers
the undergraduate and postgraduate courses for
electrical engineering. Although the concepts of
    electrical engineering are overwhelming MIT
Academy of Engineering (MITAOE), have a
    learning-centred approach, the faculty gives
personal attention to the students, and the
institute thrives on making the teaching and
learning process more effective. This makes the
students understand the concept clearer and better

12
Conclusion
  • Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) is the
first private Engineering Institute to be
established in the city of Pune, Maharashtra. It
is one of the premier institutes for Indian and
    international students offering Undergraduate and
    Postgraduate courses in Engineering, Management,
Medicine, Pharmacy, Design, and so on.
  • MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE), Alandi,
Pune, was established in 1999 under MAEER by the
honorable Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder
and Executive President of MIT Group..
