11 Symptoms of Miscarriage

What is a Miscarriage?
  • Miscarriage, also known as spontaneous abortion
and pregnancy loss, is the natural death of an
embryo or fetus before it is able to survive
    independently.
  • Miscarriage is when an embryo or fetus dies
before the 20th week of pregnancy.
  • The medical term for miscarriage is spontaneous
    abortion.
  • Every womans experience of miscarriage is
different, but common symptoms include the
    following
  • 1. bleeding
  • 2. Vaginal discharge of fluid
  • 3. pain
  • 4. a loss of pregnancy symptoms

3
What Causes a Miscarriage?
  • There are probably many reasons why a miscarriage
may happen, although the cause is not usually
    identified.
  • The majority are not caused by anything the
    mother has done.
  • It's thought most miscarriages are caused by
    abnormal chromosomes in the baby.
  • Chromosomes are genetic "building blocks" that
guide the development of a baby.
  • If a baby has too many or not enough chromosomes,
    it will not develop properly.

The Symptoms You Must know Are
  • Vaginal bleeding- that might be preceded by
brownish discharge is a classic symptom of
miscarriage as the older blood shows the uterus
    is shedding the ovum implant.
  • Passage of blood clots -normal periods must be a
fixed flow of blood lasting 3 to 5 days. Bigger
blood clots show a struggle happening in your
    uterus to shed the lining.
  • Lower back pain- some people describe this as
uterus spasms pressing against the back nerves.
  • Leg cramping- this is considered a milder sign of
    miscarriage
  • Cramps in the pelvic area- general cramping
shouldnt take place during a healthy pregnancy.
  • Contractions- Contraction is also an early sign
of miscarriage that is often confused with signs
of pregnancy itself. Still, it is advisable to
    visit your doctor.
  • Sometimes there are no signs and your miscarriage
may just be found out in a routine scan.

The Symptoms You Must know Are
  • Feeling of weakness- this is an early sign of
miscarriage that can be confused with the signs
    of pregnancy
  • Passing of vaginal blood clot- if your
menstruation is late and then followed by a heavy
flow of blood, its possible you are experiencing
    a miscarriage.
  • Nausea- This is an early sign of miscarriage that
is also confused with general pregnancy signs. If
you have not been experienced this before or
tired, you may be having an early miscarriage.
  • Weight loss- a significant weight loss is also an
    indication of miscarriage

What are the different types of miscarriages?
  • Threatened miscarriage You have vaginal
bleeding and may have mild cramps, but your
cervix stays closed. Half of the time, the
bleeding stops and your pregnancy goes on
    normally.
  • Inevitable miscarriage You have increasing
bleeding, and your cervix opens. If this happens,
theres no chance for your pregnancy to continue.
  • Incomplete miscarriage Some of the pregnancy
tissue comes out of your uterus, and some stays
inside. You may need follow-up treatment to
    remove the remaining tissue.
  • Complete miscarriage All the pregnancy tissue
comes out of your uterus. You usually dont need
    any extra treatment.

Can miscarriages be prevented?
  • You cannot stop a miscarriage from happening once
    the signs start to appear.
  • Therefore, it is advisable to visit your
physician and be treated to avoid infection or
    hemorrhaging.
  • there are some things you can do to reduce the
    risk of a miscarriage.
  • Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and using drugs
    while pregnant.
  • Being a healthy weight before getting pregnant,
eating a healthy diet and reducing your risk of
    infection can also help.
