7Requirements for PLAB Exam
- Some of the basic needs of the PLAB exam are as
follows - A primary medical degree issued by an institute
that is registered under the World Directory of
Medical Schools - An overall minimum score of 7.5 in IELTS and a
minimum score of 7 in the four necessary language
skills. - PLAB Exam Details and Steps
- PLAB exam details for both parts are as follows
- Part 1
- The total preparation required for PLAB PART 1 is
around three months. The exam consists of 180
multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which have to be
completed within a three-hour time frame. Each
question consists of a scenario with five answer
options. - Part 2
- Part 2 of the PLAB exam is based on the OSCE
(Objective Structured Clinical Exam) pattern.
OSCE consists of 18 questions that have a
time-limit of eight minutes each. These questions
are designed to reflect real-life scenarios that
occur in consultation or ward-based settings. - Upon completion of both parts, one can apply for
a license to practice medicine in the United
Kingdom. Each application must be approved within
two years of clearing PLAB Part 2.
