  • Get Familiar With Chronic Kidney Disease

2
  • Chronic kidney disease is referred to the gradual
loss of kidneys function with the passage of
time. Also known as chronic renal disease,
chronic kidney disease includes all those
conditions that damage the kidneys natural
ability to perform its function properly. The
basic function of the kidneys is to purify the
blood by removing all the toxins and waste
materials from the body through urination. In
case of any health problems that are related to
kidneys, always prefer consulting the best
    nephrologists in Pakistan, the kidney
    specialists.
  • In chronic kidney disease, waste materials start
building up in the blood of the patient while
making him sick. It then gives birth to many
    health complications such as hypertension,
anemia, weak bones, nerve damage etc. Such
problems get worse over time. However, early
diagnosis and treatment by the best nephrologist
can prevent chronic kidney disease from becoming
worse. Whereas, on the contrary, if the kidney
disease progresses over time, it can result in
kidney failure, which requires dialysis or a
    kidney transplant to survive.
  • What Are The Causes Of Chronic Kidney Disease?
  • Majorly, diabetes and hypertension (high blood
pressure) are accountable for causing chronic
kidney disease. In diabetes, the blood sugar
level is too high that it damages many organs of
the body including the kidneys, the heart, blood
vessels and nerves. Whereas, hypertension occurs
when the pressure of the blood against the walls
of the blood vessels is increased. Untreated high
blood pressure is the primary cause of heart
attack and chronic kidney disease therefore,
taking treatment of hypertension from the best
    general physician is very important.
  • Other causes of chronic kidney disease include
  • Glomerulonephritis Collectively, it is a group
of diseases that cause inflammation to the
filtering units of the kidneys, which are
responsible for filtering the blood. These
diseases are the third most frequent type of
    kidney disorder.

3
  • Polycystic kidney disease It is an inherited
disease that results in the formation of large
cysts in the kidneys, which further damage the
    surrounding tissues of the kidneys.
  • Diseases that affect the bodys immune system
such as lupus also add up as one of the causes
    behind chronic kidney disease.
  • Kidney stones, tumors and enlarged prostate gland
cause obstructions that can damage the kidneys.
  • Frequent urinary infections can also result in
    chronic kidney disease.
  • In case of any of these kidney disorders, do not
    delay consulting the best nephrologist.
  • Symptoms Of Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Many people may not experience any severe
symptoms until their kidneys are partially or
    completely damaged. However, the possible
symptoms of chronic kidney disease are
  • Feelings of exhaustion and lack of energy
  • Loss of concentration
  • Poor appetite
  • Sleeping disorders
  • Muscle cramps during the night

4
  • Swollen feet and ankles
  • Puffiness around the eyes
  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Need to urinate very often, especially at night
  • See the best nephrologist in Lahore if you have
    been facing such symptoms.
  • In addition, chronic kidney disease has been
classified into five different stages from mild
to severe kidney damage. If you want to know
about these stages, keep on reading then!
  • Stage 1
  • In stage 1, the kidneys of the patient are still
healthy, but it can show some initial signs of
kidney damage. These signs could be protein in
the urine of the patient or any physical damage
to the kidneys. If a person has been diagnosed
with stage 1 of chronic kidney disease, he needs
to control diabetes and blood pressure as well
as he should avoid the use of tobacco. A healthy
diet and mindful eating alongside physical
activity can reduce the risk of further damage to
the kidneys. Besides, the patient should take
proper treatment from the best nephrologist to
    avert further complications.

5
  • Stage 2
  • In stage 2 of chronic kidney damage, mild damage
to the kidneys is observed. The signs of stage 2
are similar to that of stage 1. One should manage
blood sugar level if he has diabetes, high blood
pressure, avoid smoking, eat a healthy diet and
see the best nephrologist instead of a general
    physician.
  • Stage 3
  • In this stage, the affected person needs to pay
more attention as the kidneys are not working as
they should. The visible symptoms of stage 3
kidney damage can be swelling in the hands and
feet, back pain and urination more or less than
normal. As well, stage 3 can result in several
health complications such as bone disease, anemia
and hypertension. The preventive measures are
also the same for stage 3 of chronic kidney
    disease, however consulting the best
    nephrologist becomes more crucial.
  • Stage 4
  • Stage 4 of the kidney disease is the last stage
before complete kidney failure. The symptoms of
stage 4 of kidney damage include swelling in
hands and feet, back pain and abnormal urination.
Similar to stage 3, it can also give birth to
    certain health complications. A regular
appointment with the best nephrologist should be
    seriously considered.
  • Stage 5
  • In stage 5, the kidneys of the patient are either
very close to failure or have entirely failed. In
    complete kidney failure, toxins start
accumulating in the blood, which makes a person
feel very sick. The symptoms of complete kidney
failures are itching, muscles cramping, lost
appetite, swelling and trouble while sleeping and
breathing. In the case of kidney failure,
dialysis or a kidney transplant is mandatory for
    the patient to survive.

6
  • The best nephrologists are specialized doctors
who perform kidney transplantation and dialysis.
  • To wrap up
  • A person with diabetes, hypertension, heart
disease or a family history of kidney failure is
more likely to develop chronic kidney disease. If
you have such risk factors, we advise our readers
to go for medical screening and get tested to
    protect yourself against any kidney-related
disorder. Besides, healthy food choices, being
active throughout the day and maintaining a
healthy weight are the essential points to avoid
any serious disease in the long run.
  • Find a doctor in the required specialty of
nephrology and confirm your appointment with the
best nephrologist in Lahore via Hayaat.pk.
