Best Laser Dental Clinic

Description:

When used for surgical and dental procedures, the laser acts as a cutting instrument or a vaporizer of tissue that it comes in contact with. When used in teeth-whitening procedures, the laser acts as a heat source and enhances the effect of tooth-bleaching agents. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Laser Dental Therapy
  • Extremely focused light beams that can be used
  • to alter or remove tissues in small amounts.
  • Dentists use lasers in many different procedures
  • inside of the mouth. Lasers can be used to remove
  • overgrown tissues, whiten teeth, or reshape the
  • gums.

3
Laser Treatment is Safe/Unsafe?
  • Compared to the traditional dental drill, lasers
    May
  • cause less pain in some instances, so reduces the
  • need for anesthesia. May reduce anxiety in
    patients
  • uncomfortable with the use of the dental drill.
  • Minimize bleeding and swelling during soft tissue
  • treatments.

4
Types
  • Hard tissue laser Hard tissue lasers can cut
through tooth structure. These lasers are most
often used to prep or shape teeth for composite
bonding, to repair dental fillings that have worn
down, and to remove some tooth structure.
  • Soft tissue laser Soft tissue lasers seal nerve
endings and blood vessels while they penetrate
the tissue. For this reason, many experience
almost no pain after laser treatment. The lasers
also promote faster healing of the tissue. These
lasers are used to treat periodontitis, including
killing bacteria and activating tissue regrowth.

  • Hard Tissue Procedures

  • Tooth preparations and dental fillings
  • Treating tooth sensitivity.

6
Benefits
  • Treatment done using soft tissue dental lasers
    may not involve stiches.
  • Some procedures do not need anesthesia.
  • Reduces gum bleeding during laser dentistry as
    compared to others.
  • Bacterial infections are reduced also minimizes
    the surrounding tissue damage.
  • Tissues can be regenerated and wounds heals
    faster.

7
Disadvantages
  • Hard lasers can sometimes injure tooth pulp.
  • Certain procedures cant be done with laser
    treatment, depending on the preexisting
surrounding tissue or components involving the
    tooth or gums.
  • There is a risk of gum injury.
  • Lasers cant be used on teeth that already have
certain types of filling, such as metal amalgam.
