History of NEET

• The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test was
  preceded by the All India Pre Medical Test. While
  the plan was to hold the exam for the first time
  in 2012, it was actually deferred by a year due

• NEET unlike most medical entrance exams in India
  can be answered in a variety of languages.
  English and Hindi were the primary languages to
  begin with but as the years have progressed many
  more languages have been added. NEET can be
  answered in Tamil, Telgu, Marathi, Bengali,
  Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, and Oriya along with
  English and Hindi.

• Earlier the entrance test were conducted by the
  Central Board of Secondary Examinations along
  with a US firm of Prometric Testing Pvt. Ltd.
  However, the NEET is now conducted by the
  National Testing Agency which provides the
  results to the Directorate General of Health
  Services at the Ministry of Health and Family
  Welfare.

Exam Pattern and Scoring for NEET

• As with most other medical exams like JIPMER and
  AIIMS the exam consists of different sections
  such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.
  There are 45 questions in each section. You get 4
  marks for every right answer and a negative
  marking for every wrong answer. If you dont
  attempt a question no marks are awarded or
  deducted for the questions. You have up to 3
  hours to answer all the 180 questions provided to
  you in the question paper.

NEET Syllabus

• The reason most students join NEET preparation
  classes in India in the 11th of 12th standard are
  because the syllabus for the NEET exam is based
  on syllabus for the 11th and 12thchapters and
  topics.  The NTA cannot add topics which are not
  in the syllabus of the 11th and 12th standard
  classes and the students prepare themselves based
