Introduction
  • The word wound comes to our mind when we think
    about any injury or accidents. But any surgical
    incisions are also considered as wounds. Skin
    being the largest organ helps to protect all the
    foreign invasions in the body. So, anything that
    breaks the skin or injures the skin is considered
    to be a wound.
  • Wound includes cuts, scrapes, scratches, and
    punctured skin. These may be a result of an
    accident, surgery, sutures, or stitches. Minor
    wounds do not any trouble, but they should be
    cleaned properly. Infected and big wounds need to
    be taken care with necessary medications. In case
    of deep wounds, it has to be closed or it does
    not heal.

1. Abrasion
  • Abrasion occurs over the skin when it is rubbed
    to any hard surface. Bleeding is not much in this
    case, but wound needs to be scrubbed and cleaned
    to avoid infection.

2. Laceration
  • A laceration is considered as a deep cut or
    tearing of the skin. Injuries which happen due to
    knives, tools, and machinery are frequent causes
    of lacerations. If the lacerations are deep, the
    bleeding can be rapid.

3. Puncture
  • A puncture is caused due to long, pointed object
    such as a needle or nail. The wound occurs in the
    form of a small hole. A bullet injury can cause a
    puncture wound.
  • Punctures neednt bleed much, but these can cause
    damage to the internal organs. The puncture
    wounds should be considered seriously as it may
    lead to infections.

  • An avulsion can be defined as a partial or
    complete tearing of skin and the tissue beneath.
    This injury generally occurs during the time of
    violent accidents, explosions, and gunshots.
    These wounds cause deep wounds and bleed heavily.

  • The wound is near the eyes
  • If you notice increased tenderness, spreading
    redness or marked swelling
  • If the bleeding doesnt stop with direct pressure
    and lasts longer for more than 20 mins.
  • Raise in temperature
  • If the wound has happened due to a bite from an
    animal or another human
  • If the cut has contaminated due to soil or saliva
  • If you are diabetic

1. Fresh Aloe vera gel
  • Take fresh aloe vera leaf and cut it slightly.
    Scrape off the pulp.
    Clean the wound and apply
    it over the cut. Leave it undisturbed.
    Repeat
    this 2-3times per day
  • Aloe gel is extremely helpful in treating wounds.
    It kills the growth of bacteria and prevents
    infection. It contains anthraquinones and certain
    other phytochemicals that have the wound healing
    property.

2. Application of honey over the wound
  • Take honey on your fingertips. Clean the wound
    and apply it gently over the open ulcer and leave
    it. This can be done at least 2-3 times a day.
  • Honey is one among the commonly used remedies for
    treating wounds. Due to its anti-inflammatory
    property it helps to reduce swelling and treat
    the wounds. The healing property accelerates the
    healing of ulcers. Honey is an antibacterial as
    well.

3. Application of Virgin coconut oil
  • Take some virgin coconut oil in your palm and
    apply it gently over the wound. This must be done
    3-times daily.
  • Coconut oil has presence of lauric acid which
    exhibits wonderful antibacterial properties. It
    possesses anti-inflammatory and is very effective
    in healing ulcers and the associated symptoms.

4. Turmeric Paste Application
  • Make fresh turmeric thick paste using turmeric
    powder and water. Apply the paste and let it dry.
    Wash off with warm water.
  • Alternatively, the application of fresh turmeric
    can also be done. This can be repeated at least
    twice a day.
  • Turmeric has been an age-old remedy, for wound
    healing due to its incredible wound healing
    activity. It contains curcumin that is
    exceptionally good in anti-inflammatory and
    wound-healing properties.

5. Onion Paste with Honey
  • Blend the onion and honey to make paste. Apply it
    over the wound.
  • Onion contains anti-microbial compound allicin
    which protects the wound from infection and helps
    to heal the wound.
