Tips
In our presentation weve summed up the most
useful tips for those who are planning Seychelles
holidays. Check it out and have a nice trip!
2
Take care of accommodation in advance The most
common type of temporary residence in the
Seychelles is resort hotels. This is primarily
due to the fact that visitors to this country are
aimed at relaxing near the sea and a beautiful
panorama from their homes. If you wish, you can
find apartments, ordinary hotels or guest houses
in the Seychelles. However, book your room in
advance, as the Seychelles enjoy remarkable fame
among tourists, which can lead to a lack of
available places in such establishments at the
most inappropriate moment for you.
3
Be careful the local food is spicy Seychelles
cuisine is a harmonious blend of Indian, Creole,
Chinese and French cuisine. The main ingredients
in the preparation of dishes are meat, seafood,
vegetables and fruits of local origin. Among
the most common products are tuna, bonito, sea
bass, barracuda, king mackerel, lobster and
squid. They usually cook grilled or fried, stews
are also found. Spicy foods with a variety of
spices, such as curry, ginger, garlic, or more
than ten types of chili peppers predominate. Rice
and vegetables are served as side dishes.
4
Observe safety rules For the rest of the islands
should stock up on repellent and sunscreen. For
safe movement away from the beaches, you should
have strong but lightweight shoes, as well as
slippers or beach slippers - fragments of coral
and granite often have quite sharp edges. Sea
dwellers are also unsafe, so before diving you
should consult with local residents and
instructors about these features. From May to
October, you should be wary of the south-eastern
currents.
5
Do not leave a tip Tipping is not accepted -
they are usually already included in the rates of
hotels and restaurants. In the restaurant you can
leave "for tea" up to 10 of the bill, the
receptionist or the maid - a few rupees. Taxi
drivers accepted to pay by the meter, but if the
taxi is rented for a long trip, then it is
appropriate to agree in advance on the amount or
to round off the bill in a big way.
6
Check import and export rates to avoid customs
problems There are no restrictions on the import
and export of foreign and local currency in the
Seychelles. It is forbidden to import weapons
(including pneumatic and spearfishing),
vegetables, fruits, plants, unpreserved meat and
meat products, medicines, drugs. It is allowed
to import into the country duty free 200
cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco
alcoholic drinks - 1 l wine - 1 l perfumery 125
ml. Other products are limited to 400 SCR per
adult and 200 SCR per person under 18. It is
forbidden to export from the Seychelles
coconuts, sea shells, corals, products made of
tortoise shell.
7
Remember the graphics of the Seychelles
stores Most institutions are open from 8.00 to
16.00 daily, except weekends. Shops are open on
weekdays from 7.30 to 17.30, on Saturdays - until
noon. But some small shops, especially Indian
ones, are open until late in the evening,
sometimes after midnight. Banks are open daily,
except Sundays, from 8.30 to 14.00 (on Saturdays
until 11.00).
8
Follow the traffic rules If you are going to
rent a car, know that in the Seychelles -
left-hand traffic. Another way to travel around
the island of Mahe is by bus. As a rule, these
are old vehicles, which are mainly used by
locals. And the trip to them is not for the faint
of heart. But the fare on them is less than a
dollar.

  • Do not forget about safety rules
  • In the Seychelles - a low crime rate, but in
order to avoid trouble, be careful
  • Lock the door of the room when leaving
  • Dont leave valuable things without supervision.
  • Dont take documents to the beach
  • Dont go to the same places in deserted places
  • Stay away from fakes when exchanging currency and
change money only in reliable exchange points.
