1How to Reset an HP Color Cartridge
2(No Transcript)
3Whenever you refill HP color ink cartridges, it
is always necessary to rest the cartridges. There
is a chip that every HP color cartridge contains
which is essential for communicating with the
printer. This chip indicates when the ink in the
cartridge gets low. It is this chip that tells
the printer that the ink in the cartridge is
running low and further gives the low ink
warning. This warning would still be displayed
after you have refilled the cartridges and it is
necessary that you reset the chip. By manually
resetting the chip and refilling the used
cartridges would save the user a lot of money and
would also solve the issue of your printer
constantly warning you of the low ink levels. You
can always learn more about this topic by

4The process to reset HP Cartridges 57, 28 and 22
are as given below
- Once you have refilled the cartridge, look at the
bottom of the cartridge where you would find six
copper contact strips. Keep the cartridge in
front of you in such a way that the copper strips
are facing you. - Then place a piece of tape on the top of the
contact in the second column. - Once you have put the tape, place the cartridge
back in the printer. Ignore the error message
that would be displayed and print a test page. - Now remove the cartridge from the printer and
leave the tape on it. Then place another tape
over the top contact in the sixth row.
5- Once again, insert the cartridge back into the
printer and while ignoring the error message
print a test page. - Now retrieve the cartridge from the printer and
then take off the tape that you have put. - Now when you place the cartridge back in the
printer, the ink level should be shown as full.

properly. The error message would be displayed,
ignoring that print a test page.
7- Once you have printed the test page, remove the
cartridge from the printer and then remove the
tape. - Now place another piece of tape over the top four
contacts in the sixth row. - Again repeat the step of placing the cartridge
back into the printer and printing a test page. - Once the above step is done, remove the cartridge
from the printer and take off the tape. - When you now reinstall the cartridge the ink
level would be displayed as Full.

- You can opt to cycle your cartridges if the first
two given options do not work, for this you will
need two extra color cartridge. - You would now have to place the refilled
cartridge in the printer while ignoring the
message of error. - Now remove the refilled cartridge and then place
the first spare cartridge in the printer. Ignore
the error message and an alignment page should be
