  • But before we talk about facts, we should find
    out basic information about HIV/AIDS. Mode of
    transmission, treatment many other things.
  • HIV-It is Human Immunodeficiency Virus that
    causes AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).
    Its is a condition where HIV damages Humans
    immune system. It is a fatal infection. This HIV
    attacks on immune system cells for Example-Helper
    T cells/CD4 cells, Macrophages Dendritic cells.
  • HIV is RNA virus. There are 2 types of viruses,
    HIV 1 HIV 2

    HIV/AIDS
  • In 1986 first HIV case diagnosed in Tamil Nadu
    among female sex worker.HIV /AIDS not problem in
    just Africa or Asia but now its major problem all
    over the world. Globally 36.9million people are
    infected with HIV.HIV is more pandemic in
    Southern Africa.
  • India has 3rd largest HIV epidemic in the world,
    with 2.1 million people living with HIV. Most
    affected population in India is among sex
    workers. In India, free antiretroviral treatment
    is available still uptake is low.
  • Indian Government has committed prevention of
    mother to child transmission. Among Indians,
    there is stigma discrimination for HIV
    patients.
  • HIV viruses can lead to AIDS. In AIDS there is a
    drop of a CD4 count below 200. There is no cure
    vaccination for HIV.

  • The number of studies has reported that HIV
    prevalence is high in Truck Drivers in India.
    Around 0.2 of truck drivers are affected by HIV.
  • If you feel like you are infected with HIV most
    experts recommend starting Antiretroviral
    therapy.
  • HIV is most common between intravenous drug
    abusers. Around 6.3 Drug abusers in India are
    infected with HIV. It is also common between
    transgender.
  • HIV Risk is high in Tattoo and body piercing due
    to needle sharing.
  • HIV never spread by Mosquito, Sweat, Tears or
    Casual Contact. HIV transmission can occur only
    via Semen, vaginal fluid, breast milk blood.
  • Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram has the highest
    prevalence of HIV.
  • Vast HIV/AIDS patients are Low or middle-income
    countries.
  • HIV is Non curable if you have anyone HIV
